10 weeks now since my daughter died unexpectedly; still waiting for the coroner’s report, but we were able to have a funeral. The last few days, I feel as though I have no tears left; I’m just numb, and then I feel guilty for not crying over her. It just goes on, and some people say one day at a time, but I am finding it’s one minute at a time. I question her all the time: why didn’t you listen to the doctors? Why didn’t you accept the help offered to you? Why wouldn’t you let me help you? Why did you, in your last few weeks, totally cut me off and the rest of the family? Did you know you were going to die? So many questions and no answers. My love to you all going through this pain xx
Oh Beverley what a terrible time for you my heart goes out to you,I lost my wife at Christmas and the pain is unbearable.i know crying tires you out you must be exhausted.time just stands still it feels like you can’t move forward.its a terrible way to loose your daughter but alcohol changes all reasoning, dont punish yourself with wondering why your daughter didn’t do the obvious and accept help, but she wouldn’t be thinking rationally ,all you can do is try to comfort yourself by knowing you offered her your help and it’s tragic that she was of a mind not to accept it.everone on this site is grieving someone and if you reach out you will get lots of support so dont be a stranger ask for help when you need it Hope you find peace Dave
Thank you Dave you words are comforting and you sound like you understand I am so sorry for your loss. It’s so hard trying to carry on, but I will, and I will accept one day that I did do everything I could, and as she was a grown-up, it was her decision not to accept help Kindest Regards Beverley
You will get there Beverley keep strong and dont be a stranger, reach out. Dave
I will Dave thank you
So sorry to hear this. Try not to feel guilty for not crying anymore or all the time. I find being numb easier, to an extent it protects us from feeling the anguish of the loss to deeply…
Thank you lovely blessings to you xx
Hello Beverley, I’m so sorry you have lost your daughter. I lost my son to suicide, and there are so many “whys” with rarely ever an answer.
My son’s mental health slipped again, and I didn’t see the warning signs. He didn’t ask for help from anyone. I understand that feeling of being numb, unable to cry, and experiencing constantly changing emotions.
Sometimes, no matter what we do as parents, we simply can’t change the outcome.
I’m sending you love and hugs.
