Bad day

Over 3 years since husband died and I still have low days. Today strummer ran out of charge, the mower won’t start and my new green house hasn’t been secured to plinth and took off in the wind - so I’ve had a swear and a cry because I’m fed up of pretending I’m coping . He may have been disabled for last 5 years of his life but always ready with a hug when it got tough and gave me a purpose. Anyone else have these days.

I’d like to tell you it gets better- I guess there are less low days but they still happen.

Yes I’ve had a day like that this week when I found out that my house needs £3,000 worth of repairs. A lot seems to have broken since Jim died 6 months ago and today is his birthday which makes me really sad . it sucks trying to cope alone and missing him so much. Sending love :people_hugging::heart:x

Hello cookie, I mostly did everything around my house anyway since my husband was disabled, but like you i didn’t care as long as he was waiting for me inside, to share a meal a smile and a hug, that’s all that mattered. Take care

Really bad two days even tho my darling died eight months ago. I had to walk out of a community film event because the film/ music were so depressing. I then went crying to a lovely, kind neighbour.

My partner died 8 months ago and it’s been hell. I’ve had to get a gardener but he’s been putting something on the grass and it’s now patchy looking. My partner loved his garden, he would be so upset to see his grass deteriorating. It’s upset me greatly, I’m so full of angst again. Grief has a way of ambushing you again just when you thought you’d made some progress

A friend has always told me that I can ring him or his wife anytime, day or night, if I am feeling low. We only ever contact each other every six or seven weeks. For the first time, today I have phoned specifically because I am feeling so bad. After he’d rambled on about himself I managed to tell him why I’d phoned. He said, ok be quick.

Somehow it’s made me toughen up!!

It’s having your person there that makes all the difference. Telling friends your problems is not the same.

That must be disappointing for you bless you. But I feel I have had to toughen up but I don’t like it.

I miss my hubby too, i feel so lonely without him. My son and his fiancée are moving in with me mostly to help me out financially, since my husband was the bread winner, .. I have no income..no job, I use to take care of my husband, now hes gone, .my life has completely changed and I don’t like it. We were happy together just the 2 of us, . I can’t see myself going back to work after all this time. I was a hairdresser for 26 years, I don’t want to go back to that again. The young ones are so demanding wanting miracles done, …with my state of mind , I don’t think I could handle that...I’ll get my husband’s pension sooner or later, probably later, in the meantime I gotta watch every penny. God bless

Similarly I can and do try most things but some days I feel the world is against me. Let’s hope today is a better day .

I lost my husband 4 years ago and the pain is still as fresh as the first month.

I have a very supportive family but life just isn’t the same.

We were married for almost 40 years and he literally had a 6 week illness before he passed away. The trauma of the experience is still with me today.

I now feel like I am just going through the motions and wish everyday that I was gone from this world and with my husband.

Family and friends act as though I should be back to normal and I should have now moved on but the pain is still there as a constant reminder.

Anyone else feel like this after years of loosing their loved one?

I am sorry about the loss and how it’s affected you. The financial situation is real.. I will only receive my pension when I am 67..to the pension changes in 2014..voted in by Conservatives and Lib Dems. It’s a very long wait when you’re also challenged by health issues..And as I understand it, I will not get any of his pension..he only got his for 3 years, after paying in for 46 years. God help us :folded_hands::folded_hands::folded_hands:

I’m not years, just eight months down the line but I feel bad all the time.Im always anxious and miss my lovely partner so much. After 40 years of being together I cannot see a future without him and don’t want to be here. I’ll go crazy if anyone tells me I should be moving on. Moving on to what? A lifetime of loneliness!

Dear Norma 1, I’m so sorry for your loss. You are not going crazy. My husband died 6 months ago and I feel exactly the same as you. I don’t really want to be here and I miss him so much. It was his birthday yesterday and the pain was unbearable. My friend whose husband died 10 years ago has found a way to live now, but she was just the same at the beginning of her journey. Take care and sending hugs :people_hugging::people_hugging:.

Yes I understand completely. My husband didn’t get any of his, as he passed away at 63 years. He also paid into the system for all of his working life.
