Chat and support

Morning Sandra,

I knew you’d be up. I have been awake for an hour so finally gave up & having a cuppa now. Not feeling so great and debating whether to go to my in-laws. But need done company so hoping a shower will help in a bit.

Jane - I agree with Sandra. You will need help and alot of people will be caring and supportive particularly in those roles. Keep positive. Also you have a good sense of humour and are a lovely person yourself - how could they resist not liking you!

Hope everyone wakes up in a positive start but if not, my hands are here despite not feeling the best. Still buoyed by my visitor from last night!!

Morning everyone. Onwards and upwards after a bit of a swampy day yesterday, set off by seeing all the damned Christmas stuff in Tesco. Still gets to me, even after a year.

If you can I would encourage you to go to your MIL for some TLC if you are not feeling great.
Is it a long drive?

Thanks Sandra. It’s about an hour and a quarter if there is no traffic. I feel a bit better after my cuppa. I am going to go as I really need to have some TLC but also need to get out of the house.

@Catrin1 - it’s going to be my first Christmas without my husband. I already told his family I am not celebrating and don’t know how I will feel but want to be on my own. How did you cope with the first one?

This will be my second Christmas. Managed the first with the help of my neighbours. My BIL and SIL came down for my birthday which is near Christmas and the neighbours came in for a drink. My neighbour Sue made me Christmas dinner and brought it to me. On New Year’s Eve my neighbours Pete and Izzy came over before their party to have a drink with me and then my brother came to visit just after Christmas.
This year I will probably just be on my own apart from my carers.

Hello,

yes I got some sleep.

I stayed on the sofa. Tony gave me some cuddles but then got down.

Tony seems to be asleep in front of the fire so I am letting him sleep.

The pneumatic drill will probably be starting in about 20 minutes next door. So making the most of the silence.

I hope you got some sleep

So glad Tony is still with you! Precious time you are having. Sorry about the drilling.

I am cautiously optimistic but every time I start to feel better I then go backwards. But as I am on 2 meds now am hoping I am on my way. Thanks.

FYI all - I may be out of touch until Sunday but I will be thinking of you all. I will try to check in when I can.

Sending positive and healing vibes :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::heart::heart:

Love,

Good morning everyone.
I hope everyone, including Tony, has a good day.
I am still hoping to go home today.
Thank you so much for listening to my whining and ramblings. This has been a new and horrible experience for me. I have never been in hospital before, never broken a bone and never needed help. I know that makes me fortunate. Anything new seems more challenging when you do it for the first time when you are older, I think. I am a bit worried about having help, but I know I will need it for a little while. I don’t want to ask my son to do too much, and certainly nothing personal. But your encouraging words have meant so much during the long sleepless nights in hospital.
So, just Thank You. You are all amazing.

Good morning Jane i will keep my fingers crossed for you, yes you are certainly going to need some help in the beginning,
But at least you will be home in your own bed with your own personal things, and not listening to ppl shouting out all hours.
Sendig you love n hugs xxx

Hope you can get home today. Go to Amazon and order a hip replacement kit. You probably won’t be able to bend from the waist for 6 weeks or so, which will affect things like putting on shoes and loading the washing machine, so the grabbers are essential. A rucksack is also useful. Best of luck! xx

Will keep my fingers crossed that you get to go home today. Ask your son to do as much non personal things as you need. You raised him and he’ll let you know if it’s too much. Hopefully he won’t say no. People usually want to help, particularly your kids.

Jane - thought you were showing the lovely roaring fire :joy: til I read your post. Tony reminds me of my childhood cat. He was black with a small bit of white on his chest. We called him shadow. Thanks for showing him so it brought back a happy memory.

Love to all.

One of our first cats was called shadow. Not because he was black although he was but he would follow you everywhere. His brother was diesel because of his purr.
