Hello everyone, I have just joined, thought I would say a quick hello.
My partner died on Christmas eve 2019, yes I have been struggling since but lately things are getting worse, mentally I’m not good anyway but, my grief for my partner has significantly got worse in the last 4-5 months. Anyway thats enough from me for now. Would love to hear from others in the same situation
Hi Alitears I am sorry you are struggling after such a long time. My wife died on Christmas day so it’s been nine months ago for me. I have found this site to be a great help surviving over the seven months since I joined. Have you looked had counselling over the years? My wife found it very helpful when her mother died, it took her a long time to come to terms with the loss. With her last breath she called out to her mum. I hope they are together now.
Wishing you all the best Tom
Hi @Alitears13
I am sorry you are struggling at the moment. There is no timeline for grief
It is just over a year since I lost my husband suddenly cardiac arrest.
I have had counselling and attended a bereavement cafe once a month both have helped me .
Have you had any counselling
I hope you find this site helpful, they are some lovely supportive people here .we are all in various stages of our grief. We all understand the pain of grief.
Take care
Hi I haven’t accessed this site for a while, but today I found the message you had posted. My beloved Husband has been gone 6 years and 7 months, like you I feel exactly the same.Life is carrying on and I feel like screaming. I realise that everyone deals with grief in different ways and the timeline varies from person to person, but this feels never ending. I try to carry on fulfilling other people’s expectations, but I feel incredibly sad.I think about what was, what we didn’t get chance to do , and I feel resentful when I see couples in our age group. I try to keep busy, and am now supporting a family member with dementia, it is draining. I had hoped I would feel some semblance of normality, but I think I am coming to realise this is it. When my Husband went the nhs left me with lots of unanswered questions, I go over these continually, as I haven’t had answers I have no closure. I had counselling for a while, but it wasn’t particularly helpful. I would like to have given you something positive to help you on this awful journey, all I can send you is hope and strength and a wish that life improves for you Take one day at a time x
I think grief is unique to everyone and your post shows that. As different as people are is how different grief manifests itself. Maybe you are emotionally ready now to process it and that is why it’ s waited and is happening now. If you can get good support where you feel in tune to the person, that can help. Grief does change, too. It has constantly morphed for me. Not sure it will ever go away, but it changes and does become less intense.
@Alitears13 Hi! Glad you found us, even though it’s the place no one wants to be. I am sorry the grief is just hitting you now, but somehow, sometimes it must surface. I lost my husband 9 years ago, and although I no longer grieve in that sense, there is still guilt and regret.
I am here because my boyfriend died in May, and now I am grieving and truly alone. I find this community a great solace, and hope you do too Cindy
Hi, I have a sister in law, shes married to my husbands brother, anyway, she sends me text messages to see if im feeling better now?? She must think I have the flu..and sends me inspirational videos..if she only knew what its really like, but I don’t wish this pain on anyone…but I appreciate her caring, no one else from my husbands side of the family has reached out to me…
