Dying is big business

It might just be my impressions, but adverts seem to be obsessed with selling cremations and funeral plans. I am sure these ads are more frequent than they ever used to be.

Dear @SSTC22

I agree with you. There is not one day on the television when an advert does not talk about funerals or cremations. It never used to be this frequent but lately it has been constant. You are not alone in your thinking.

Take care.

I agree that there are more funeral and cremation ads. What bothers me is that they make it sound as if the family will have a party the minute you die. There is not a sign of impending grief mentioned. Not a good idea to give this impression to young grandchildren. What happened to respect and reverence for the dead.

Good points. I don’t know about you but the last thing I wanted to do after Andrew died was to party. Yes, by all means celebrate their life but grief should also be mentioned.

I will undoubtedly do something (or several things) to celebrate his life but I need time to grieve and settle.

Mum and I noticed that too before she died and it really unnerved her. I know they need to advertise etc but it seems every ad break is life insurance and funerals!

Since mum died my Facebook ads are all cremation ashes jewellery and the like :woman_facepalming:
