Lost my dad 5 weeks ago…not coping
So sorry. It’s horrible, I know. Have a look around the site, and maybe join in some existing threads. You’ve come to the right place
.
I’m so sorry. I’ve lost my dad too. Like Burgled said, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find people here who understand. Don’t look ahead right now, just take it one breath at a time. ![]()

I lost my mum 8 weeks ago and my dad 3 years ago. When the weather is nice I find a walk along the seafront or on the pier helps. I used to take mum down to the pier for an ice-cream as a treat, it brings back happy memories xx
Hi @Brighton1
Sorry to hear your not coping, I have found this forum a really lifeline, you can say as much or as little as is comfortable, no-one will judge, we are all here because we are going through our own grief journey.
Some people keep a diary, or write a letter to their loved one, some people make a memory box or scrapbook of memories of their loved one, but you do what works for you, just take it one day at a time. Sending hugs of support.
Thank you. I just don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel
Hi,
I know the loss of a parent is a big shock, especially when it’s so recent. The trick is to not look too far ahead, take it one day at a time. I hope you have close family & friends who can help support you, if not, you can always talk on this forum. If it might help, ask citizens advice or your GP about support groups in your area, I go to a group run by the charity “Mind”, the important thing is your not alone.
I was feeling a bit crap today so went down to the seafront and had an ice cream. It would have been my dad’s birthday today if he hadn’t died 3 years ago xx
Hi @Victoria22
Sending hugs of support. Ice-cream on the seafront sounds great.
My dad loved Brighton . We spent many happy times there. Hope you are ok and can think of the happy times . Its not always easy though x
