Feeling let down

My Mam passed away 8 weeks ago and I am struggling to find a way to get through the intense grief I am feeling. I have a husband and a grown up son and daughter who are doing their best to support me even though they are dealing with their own grief. I am feeling very alone and let down by some of my wider family who have not even put themselves out to come and see me I feel are actually avoiding me when I need them the most.
I don’t have any friends who I can turn to so my husband is coping with me on his own and I feel so guilty. Our marriage is suffering and I feel that it is all my fault. Has anyone else experienced this feeling of being completely let down?

I know what you mean, at the funeral the place was full of people promising to support me but I haven’t seen many of them since and I’m on my own now, I think that we need to change our thinking about the majority of people who attend funerals and think of them attending for the person who has died and not us, they say the things about supporting us just for something to say.
You are not on your own, many of the people on here are having the same problem, when you are grieving people are uncomfortable when they are around you and are unsure how to cope. If you need someone to help you through this time ask them outright and tell them how you feel, they probably haven’t got a clue what you’re going through.
Sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry to hear that you are experiencing the same x it is so true what you say, people show their true colours when you need them the most.

Hi I know how you feel it is 7 years today for my mam and 9 months tomorrow for my dad. I couldn’t grieve properly for my mam as I had to look after my dad. I am an only child with no children of my own so my poor husband has to cope with all of this. I try to hide everything and be bright and bubbly but underneath I am devastated. The same thing happened to me (you know where we are if you need us) but they never are and when I actually said how I felt I was told you have to get on with your life. Look after yourself take care
