Grief journey with loosing a Mum

Hello all

It’s been a while since I posted on here.I find it useful just to put words down.

It’s just over a year since I lost my Mum.Recently I’ve been so low.Its the everyday things that get me. And that’s when the realization hits me I no longer have a Mum.

Just hurts baldly and as you go on this grief journey you realize how lonely it is even with supportive friends & family.

Hey hoe.

My mum had positive energy & that’s what I draw on the get through particularly bad moments…

Love & thoughts to anyone feeling the same.

Will.

Hello @Kettle

I’m so sorry for the loss of your mum. Thank you for sharing this with us. I’m just giving your thread a gentle, “bump” for you - hopefully someone will have some thoughts to share.

Take good care,
Alex

Hello, kettle

I know exactly what you mean – it’s the everyday things that get you. In my case, it’s shopping where continually my eye sees things that my mother would like and then I realise there’s no point. It’s also stupid things like beetroot which she and I both liked and no one else does. I now can’t buy beetroot as I’m not capable of eating it all before it goes mouldy. It’s coming back home from shopping and telling her all about my trip and who I saw and what I bought and now coming home to silence. However, I too had a lovely smiling mother who was always happy and always wanted the best for me and somehow I need to live up to that and keep going. I am at least now ‘ celebrating’ for lack of a better word finally completing my estate return to the taxman which has hung around my neck for the last five months and only now it is done do I realise how much it dragged me down. Hang on in there as I am try to do too. Love and hugs J

Thank you so much for getting back.

It’s so tough isn’t it.

But sharing our love & postive energy that our mums gave us helps a little in the so sad times.

Love for now

Hello Kettle, My Mum was almost 94 when she died suddenly. She was also always smiling, kind and a real character. She would dance and sing that she was still fighting fit! She wanted me to be happy which helps me try to live my life the best that I can, so as not to waste everything she did for me. I do cry when I think of my Mum. I can’t even think of not seeing her again. Instead I feel that she is always with me, walking alongside me. Mum and I adopted a stray cat. When she was in hospital, she told me that I was in charge of the cat now! She loved the cat, so all my love and attention goes to her. She helps me not feel alone as she greets me when I come home. I also see all the food that Mum liked in the shops … jellied eels! Not my favourite! I also had to get used to cooking for 1. I have now managed to find a lamb shank for 1. This was one of our favourites.
