Grief truma

I’m really struggling with the truma of losing my mum in February. She passed away to cancer but the last 2 weeks of her life was very traumatic and I was with her till the very end and I’m replaying the last 2 weeks in my head over and over again and I think it’s stopped me grieving my mum because I can’t get passed the truma

I’m so sorry to hear about your Mam, Also that you’ve been traumatised. I understand that feeling all to well I’m experiencing flash backs and panic attacks because of the death of my partner 6 weeks ago in the most traumatic circumstances.

Try to be kind to yourself. Take care.

I lost my muM too on 13th July. She was suffering from Dementia but still enjoyed life and getting out and about. Her death was sudden and unexpected after a nasty fall and I am heartbroken and lost. It’s so hard :broken_heart:

Hi all
I too have the truma of a loved one passing. It was very horrific as my nan had dementia and eventually went to end of life. She had years of ill health and is just arwful.
I wake up all three the night with flashbacks and suffer from terrible guilt that she went a care home to soon. I looked after her daily and she was my world but I don’t half punish myself. On top of that I keep seeing all the times she was agitated or stressed or how she went end of life and it pulls me apart.
They wouldn’t want this.

Sending condolences dementia is one of the cruelest illnesses. My nan had it. You always worry about falls she broke her shoulder and was never right after that from the trauma. It’s just arwful to see.
How old was your mum?.how long had she had dementia for?.

Mum was 75 only got proper diagnosed this year so dont know how long .Mum stopped walking and couldn’t feed herself this came out of nowhere ended up in hospital then caught pnomina bet that eventually back to care home were told Mum.had up to 3 months lasted a month everything went so quick

That’s sad. It’s such a big shock and each stage of dementia is hard even the beginning I struggled and it just gets worse.
It does seem that any infection, fall or trauma can rapidly progress dementia and there in a thin line. I’ve learnt a lot but is all in hindsight. It’s arwful to see one minute my nan was walking had a ok memory for dementia the next after a fall her walking had gone and she got so agitated. She went end of life and couldn’t eat herself. And was horrific to watch her try but just couldn’t do stuff.
My nans was vascular dementia which effects walking a lot but had had it 11years of mini tias.

Have you had any therapy?. It’s something I’m thinking about for ptsd.

Hi I spoke to counselling they said think have pstd its horrible and miss mum ao very much

Yh I think the same I’ve got ptsd from it all. I did a bereavement counciling but it hasn’t done much. Is just so sad. I miss my nan so much aswell.

My trauma includes also what my husband’s adopted children did to us. It’s pure evil. I believe in God, but I’ll never get over this. Some wounds are too deep, even though I still try… Janka

Oh, sorry to hear that, what did they do?
