Local

Are there any people on here that are local to me…East Hertfordshire? Perhaps to meet up up for coffee/ drink and a chat. I don’t drive so would need to be local

Hi @Piclke,

While it’s absolutely fine to arrange to meet up with people on the community, I just wanted to make everyone reading this aware of our guidance on meeting up offline: Staying safe on the Online Community

Please also be careful about sharing your specific location online (East Hertfordshire is fine as it’s not very specific). This is just because posts are public on the community, so anyone on the internet can see them.

If you’d like to arrange via private message, that’s completely fine too.

I hope you’re able to connect with other people (both online and outside of the community) who understand what you’re going through.

Take care,

Harriet

Hi I am aware of how important it is to stay safe online etc. I’m only 6 weeks into my grieving and feel incredibly lonely. I just thought meeting people near to where I live might help me to move foward

I completely understand - it sounds like your grief is still very raw, and I’m sorry that you’re feeling so lonely. I usually post this reminder whenever anyone wants to meet offline, just to help keep everyone safe. I really hope you’re able to connect with some local members on here who can offer some companionship and support :blue_heart:

Hi @Piclke
Unfortunately I don’t live close enough to you as I am in Lancashire. If you do find anyone to meet up with. The best way to do it is by private messages . I hope you find someone nearer you . I often think it would be nice to meet people on here as we all understand how we are feeling.

Yes it’s a shame no one lives closer to me. I feel so lonely …like now. I have asked people on an online bereavement group …but the same thing unfortunately. I am going to try a bereavement cafe on Tuesday in the town I live in but feel rather apprehensive about it !

Hi @Piclke
I attend a bereavement cafe once a month
I also go to talking tables. I recently joined the U3 A they have them all over the country. There is a lot of activities to choose from
When you go some were new for the first time it is always a bit daunting.
Being lonely is hard to cope with, after being a couple for so long . I keep busy to help stop me thinking too much . I hope your Sunday is going as well as it can .

Hi @Piclke,

Thank you for reaching out and letting us know how you’re feeling. It’s good to see you posting again, but I’m so sorry that you’re struggling so much at the moment, and that the pain and loneliness feel unbearable.

In the post above, you mentioned that you were looking for people to meet up with locally. Have you been able to find any local groups or services near you at all?

The community is here for you, and other members are here to listen and offer support :blue_heart:

No one lives nearby unfortunately. I tried a local bereavement cafe yesterday but wasn’t for me. Just feeling very lonely and depressed

Hi @Piclke
The loneliness is hard to deal with after being a couple for so long. Are there any chatty cafes, talking tables are the u3 a in your area .

I don’t think any of those will help. I couldn’t even think about socialising right now and I’m a very shy person . My husband and me did everything together. Thanks anyway.

Hi @Piclke
I understand it took me 5 months before I started going to the places I’d mentioned.
