Losing a parent

My mum passed away suddenly 2 weeks ago.
I rang for an ambulance, who advised it was a 1hr15 min wait. I told them ahe couldnt wait that long.
Failed attempts to get her to the car, by this point she was starting to lose consciousness. I rang them back and begged them to prioritise my call - i was told again it was a 1hr 15 min wait.
10 minutes later, my mums heart stopped and i had her on the floor performing cpr. I ring back a 3rd time. Eventually the house is decended upon by 6 police officers who took over cpr.
I already knew we had lost her on the 2nd call. I saw the life leaving her eyes.
I held mum as she took her last breath, begging someone to take my call seriously.
I cant stop seeing the life leaving her eyes, the crunch as i started cpr. Her face as she took her last few breaths.

Hello @Cheesegrater,

I can see you’re new to the community so I wanted to say how sorry I am for the loss of your mum. Your loss is very recent and you sound understandably traumatised by it. Please do know you’re not alone - many of our members have lost a parent and will understand some of what you’re going through.

I’m just giving your thread a gentle bump as I’m sure someone will be along to offer their support. In the meantime, you might find this info from Mind on coping with flashbacks helpful. If you think some extra support could be useful, please do reach out to your GP, too.

Take good care,
Seaneen
