Losing my daughter

Hi I recently lost my beautiful daughter ((11/05/26) her special day celebration is this coming Friday (05/06/26) I feel like I’m not going to be able to get there to be there. I’m panicked by it, my chest hurts I can’t breathe. I do have support all around me but I still feel I’m going to panic pass out and then ruin her special day. I’m so lost without my beautiful girl, we did everything together have horses the dogs etc. I’m so totally lost.

Dear Charlie, I am so sorry to hear you suffering. The first thing that comes to my mind is, how could you ruin her special day? when you are her Mum. The most important person who brought her into this world.
About the panic attacks have you spoken to your GP I believe some people on this site have been given things to help with the anxiety. You can also try some breathing techniques which might help.
The easiest is to take in as much air as possible hold for a few seconds and release as slowly as possible. Then repeat.
I hope you find you can cope and attend
Wishing you all the strength you will need
Tom

Hello @Charlie75,

I can see that you’re new to the community. I hope you find it to be a support to you, but I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter that brings you here. You say that you’re feeling lost, which is completely understandable, especially with her special day celebration coming up.

I hope that you can take some comfort from @Brandon1’s supportive reply so far. I wanted to add some sources of support that might help you right now:

  • Child Bereavement UK support families with the loss of a child. They also support bereaved children. You can call their helpline on 0800 02 888 40.

  • The Compassionate Friends support families who have lost a child of any age. They have a grief companion scheme where you can get 1-1 support from another bereaved parent. You can call them on 0345 123 2304.

Thank you again for sharing - please keep reaching out and know that you are not alone.

Take care,

Harriet

Thank you for the breathing techniques I will try this.

I just feel that I may have a panic attack or something and take time away from her special day.

My heads a mess! X

So sorry you are here with us. I lost my wonderful son on 12/5/24. I was given diazepam to get through his day.

It’s not easy, it’s the wrong way and we shouldn’t be there.

Sending you love x

Charlie,
Tom comes with good ideas. I’ll try it too. My morning anxiety attacks have been unbearable since my most beloved husband died. We all are here for you, it’s the best community of people I’ve ever met.
Hugs from Janka
