Could someone please explain the relevance of the different colours used to show the number of posts? Usually the number is in black with an underline, but sometimes it is turquoise or brown. I just can’t work out what it means!

This is a feature of Discourse, which the community is built on. It’s called topic, “heat”. Active threads whose posts have a lot of likes on them will be brown or orange, depending on how many posts, views and likes there are. So they may change colour over time.
