Hi,
I am new here and not quite sure if I’m doing this right. My only child (son) died six weeks ago. I am still in disbelief. It doesn’t feel real. I am broken hearted.
Hi,
I am new here and not quite sure if I’m doing this right. My only child (son) died six weeks ago. I am still in disbelief. It doesn’t feel real. I am broken hearted.
You are doing it right. I’m so sorry to hear you’ve lost your son. I know how you feel as I lost mine in 2024. There’s not a pain like losing your child as you expect to go first. Nothing prepares you for this type of grief. You’ll find everyone here will be ready to listen and you’ll find comfort here. I’m sending you lots of love on this awful grief journey we find ourselves on x
Hi Debbie401,
I too, lost my youngest son in March 2025 at the age of 24 years. He meant the world to us and still does. He was a healthy fit young man but he died in his sleep due to an arrhythmia in his heart. We have been totally devastated since and are also living in a state of disbelief. I have found that the only way to get through each day is to make yourself get up out of bed each morning and completely fill your day from morning til night with physical jobs to distract yourself a bit. You won’t stop thinking about your beautiful son but a small part of your brain will be also thinking about the task in hand. It gives a bit of respite from the agony of grieving. I’m sorry I can’t give you any better advice but I have found that this is the only thing that has gotten me this far ( 53 weeks and 2days ) in this awful life we now lead. That and the wonderful support from all the other grieving parents on this site.
Sending you loads of hugs from one grieving mum to another xxx

Debbie401 I feel your pain so very much. It is 68 weeks and 1 day since my boy fell asleep and the pain is just as bad as the moment I heard. I can’t offer any “cure” the ladies on here help as we can pour our hearts out, knowing I’m not alone helps but doesn’t if you understand that.
Each and every day I pray I wont wake up and I’m with my boy once more but I’m still here just moving through time without any joy whatsoever.
The tears still flow daily and the disbelief its happened is so raw still.
Our babies should still be here with us we should go first.
Its a long lonely sad life we are all in now.

The only way I can cope with life is to keep busy every minute of the day. I have joined a gym and walk every day with music or podcasts to listen to. Luckily I have a good circle of other retired friends who I have coffees and lunches with. Nothing is enjoyable but it is distracting ![]()
I was prescribed antidepressants as I felt like I didn’t want to go on. They are helping me cope but I still have days of total devastation. I just long to see my beautiful boy. Nothing in life prepares you for this kind of loss x
My son died unexpectedly also. I still don’t have the results. I know they won’t bring him back but I just want to know how and why he died. I have been back to work and I have a lot of support which I am very grateful for. I just miss him so much and will for the rest of my life.
I’m sitting here sobbing, I was listening to music and a song my son loved came on and it’s reduced me to tears. Nothing feels right without him. I love and need him so much. I wish I could swap places with him. I love him so much .
Sharon
Thank you for the hug and the info. I’m a mental and emotional mess at the moment. 71 weeks since my beautiful Lauren died. I don’t cry as often but wander around the house saying her name and asking why. I still don’t understand why my Lauren at 41 years, 6 months and 23 days. Why not me at 64 years. It’s not fair. I miss her so very much. I’m scared I will forget her smell, her voice and what she looks like.
Sending hugs and understanding xxx

I’ve sat and cried all morning, I do every Saturday. Saturday is the day my world fell apart. I hate it. I need to see my beautiful boy desperately. Every Saturday I feel like I can’t go on and I only do so for the sake of my daughter. Life has changed for the worse and I can’t stand it. No parent should lose their children, it’s just not right x
Sending love to all x
I’m so sorry and I know how you feel. Mind died on a Monday. We just got the results and his tox screen was negative. It was ruled an acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) . My poor boy died of a heart attack at the age of 35.
Im so sorry for your loss of your Son.
I had to wait 6wks for my daughters results, but I knew they wouldn’t find anything bad. Elizabeth died from SUDEP aged 31yrs in April 2025.
We’ve just had the 1st year anniversary of losing Elizabeth. It was a horrible day and all I wanted to do is climb under the earth and lay next to her.
Us parents are all going through hell with losing our beloved children.
Sending virtual hugs
to you all

My son passed the same way he was 35. He said he had bit of indigestion for couple of days previous but no pain as such. He fell asleep and went unconscious in his sleep then had a myocardial infarction.
It was a Wednesday and was 68 weeks and 3 days and it still feels like day 1.
I miss him more than words can say and so long to be with him.
Life is not life its purgatory without him
Sending hugs

My beautiful 24 yr old son died on a Monday too. End of march 2025. He fell asleep and had a fatal heart arrhythmia. PM and blood samples all normal. We are still waiting for the results of the genetic testing of his heart. We have all had to go for screening. It’s all just a nightmare. Every day is so difficult. So hard just to pull myself out bed every morning. Can’t believe I have to live the rest of my life without my son. Hopefully it won’t be a long life ![]()
Sending loads of hugs to you all xxx
Hi
My beautiful Elizabeth died on a Wednesday. I hate Wednesdays now and re-live that horrible 9th April every single day .
Existence is what im doing now , wishing God will see how unhappy I am and take me to be with Elizabeth again.

I know that feeling well about not wanting to be here. Life is so hard isn’t it? I’d do anything to see my precious boy again and hear his voice. As parents we don’t think about anything like this happening as we are supposed to go first. It’s something I will never come to terms with. I take antidepressants at night now that help me sleep. They have also taken the edge off the awful thoughts I was having.
I’m just so grateful for this site it’s helped me so much as there’s always someone here to listen and share.
Hi ladies 69 weeks and 4 days in this living hell I find myself in.
Nothing is a joy anymore, I constantly think about and talk to my son. Every day i just long to be with him.
Sometimes though it feels everyone around me has “moved on” and I feel I’m the only one grieving my beautiful boy. Do any of you feel this way
Hugs to all the mums on here ![]()
