The Grief Garden CIC is a community-led project that invites people who are experiencing grief to work together to co-create a garden as a place of acceptance, connection and healing. In the garden, people are welcome to express and explore their grief in ways that feel good to them, whilst designing, producing and caring for an evolving garden for the emerging community.
The project focuses on both the process of co-creating a garden, alongside the garden itself, as a space for healing both individually and collectively. It does this through exploring the reciprocal relationship between grief and the natural world, inviting humans and nature to support each other. The garden hopes to make space for grief to be, without pressure to ‘get better’, and hopes to normalise conversations about death and grief within society.
People who are experiencing grief are invited to attend a weekly gardening group and become a part of a peer to peer support group of budding horticulturalists. The Grief Garden also hosts a variety of different events and workshops about death, dying and grief.

@Sassychic have you seen this ? Maybe this is something you could look at to help you and help others at the same time? Getting out in the outdoors definitely helps me - i wish there was something like this around my area - worth a look ?

That must have shook you up and happy to hear that both you and the young lad are both ok- hopefully if it was a low speed bump not much damage. Dont let that put you off getting out and about though, accidents do happen and thats what insurance is for.
Once you are over the shock give it a look and dont stop driving through fear or you wont get out anymore - remember it was just an accident - hope your feeling ok today

Hey both,
You’d be very welcome to come along, see the garden and see if it’s helpful for you. It’s at a beautiful victorian walled garden near sicklinghall, Wetherby. Parking is available at Woodhall Hotel and Spa and it’s a short walk from there. We have weekly sessions on a Thursday evening 5pm-7:30 at the moment and we’re looking to start a Saturday group too.
Let me know if you have any questions

Hi - its tomorrow evening 5pm - 7.30pm - well done on getting back in the car and getting your hair done- see - you went there alone. I go to lots of places on my own - i have to stay out sometimes for work and that means I often eat alone in hotels, pubs and restaurants- it doesnt bother me - I pretend I am reading or looking at my phone but usually I am people watching which i love doing
and I am female - no one takes any notice i doubt they even notice me - be brave Sweet lady and go for it - if you dont enjoy it or feel uncomfortable you can leave - worst case scenario its not for you and you never need to go again and best case scenario you meet some lovely new people who could become good friends - no pressure at all if you decide not to go.
Hey,
I understand, it can be really stressful going to new places with new people, especially when you don’t know what to expect, or how you might feel when you get there.
There’s no pressure to come along if you don’t feel like it. But to reassure you, you’re welcome to come and leave when you feel like it, and join in and opt out as you feel like it too.
To give you a bit more information to help you understand if you want to come I’ve attached a few images of the garden. So far, we haven’t had more than 3 people attend at one time, so the group size is nice and not too overwhelming.
Usually we have a cup of tea and a quick chat, then we do some light gardening tasks like weeding or seed sowing and then we have another cup of tea and a chat if we feel like it. My name is Sophie and I’m always there
If you’d like to chat more about coming along my email is thegriefgardencic@gmail.com. If you email me and let me know if you want to come, I’d be happy to have a phone call with you or to meet you before hand and go to the garden together.
I hope this helps & best wishes,
Sophie
