One year on

Yesterday was one year since my mum passed. The night before took me back to the day , and replayed all the chats, what happened. I felt sure that yesterday was going to be as awful. Being blue lighted, sat in resus mum fighting n calling for me. Took to a room to say it doesn’t look good. Then moved to a noisy an and e cubicle as there was no more the doctors could do.. them hours and all in between are painful. Yet now a year has passed your not suffering. It’s been a rough year but chatting to my friends all whom have lost their parents and having counselling with dad, have gave me a little peace. There is no right way to do anything and we all do this journey our own way. Just know you’re not alone, give yourself grace and plenty of time( and tissues!) I am sure I’ll still encounter plenty of first yet and there is still that one thing missing, mum . But I carry her in my heart and know her pearls of wisdom (well her thoughts on many things). It’s never going to be the same, we had a meal and went to town and chatted about her . I hope this can help

Hi @Mwells59,

Thank you so much for sharing this with the community :blue_heart: I’m so sorry to hear that yesterday was one year since your mum died, and about everything you’ve been through in the last year, but I’m glad that chatting to friends who have also lost parents and having counselling has given you some peace. As you say, there is no right or wrong way to grieve.

I’m sure your words will bring comfort to others.

Take good care,

Harriet
