Partner

My partner died in February. He was 50. He collapsed 9 days before he died while out walking our dogs.
He was taken to hospital by ambulance. The hospital said that there was nothing wrong with his heart and that he had a seizure. 9 days later he had a heart attack and died. The post mortem said he had ischaemic heart disease. I feel that he has been massively let down. I feel that I have let him down and now he is gone. Im finding life too hard. I don’t know what to do. He is my best friend since 1986. I just want to be with him

Dear Loz1, I am so sorry for your loss. My husband died also suddenly this February and he had undiagnosed advanced kidney cancer, which was a terrible shock for me because I thought he died having a heart attack because he died so quickly. My husband was 65, three weeks later he would 66. Our future plans are shattered. I understand your feeling to be with him. Every morning when I wake up I ask myself why I am still here. It is horrible to be let down by the NHS but you could not know that your husband had a heart disease and that he was such ill. You could only do so much and please, do not blame yourself. You did not let him down. Sending you lots of love and hugs.

My partner died 5 months ago today at 49! He was at his fittest and healthiest and died while out on a bike ride. Ischemic heart disease caused chronic heart failure. It was instant.

Sudden death means you can’t say goodbye, and you don’t get a chance to say anything to them to make sure they fully knew how you felt about them.

As time goes by, I realise, he knew how I felt and I knew how he felt. We told each other every day.

I’m having better days now and it’s not so raw but there’s still days I really struggle but I take those days and let them happen.
