Hi. My UC50 assessment came back as me being fit for work despite me being on the waiting list for PTSD counselling. 9 months after I lost my mum I am no better off emotionally, in fact I am worse. I am on medication but still have bad dreams, flashbacks, low mood etc and dreadful insomnia. Included in the UC50 medical was a cognitive assessment which I didn’t do very well on. I also felt very confused and muddle-headed during the assessment (and almost had an accident due to my physical disability). Despite me putting in a mandatory reconsideration request the Jobcentre are saying I have to look for work until that decision is made. The DWP have told me not to provide any more fit notes. I really don’t think I can cope with work at the moment since I am not even looking after myself properly let alone trying to run my house, deal with probate etc and I just feel the DWP are bullying me. I only have UC to live off, I am swimming in debt and if I could get to an interview, I feel so low about myself and have a physical disability which is clear to see, I don’t feel I would ever get a job. Any ideas?
Sorry to hear you’re struggling so much, @Roman111. Are you getting any support with your claim? Your local Citizens Advice may be able to help. The Benefits and Work website also has lots of great advice and support, too.
Thank you Seaneen. The Jobcentre are helping me do a mandatory reconsideration and I am collating evidence to say I am not fit for work. It just feels like another mountain to climb to try and look for a job that you know you are not going to get because your health conditions, yet you have to try or else you get sanctioned. I managed to get a copy of my medical report and detailed everything said about me that I am not happy with. I will have a look at the Benefits and Work website to see if they have any ideas. I have not heard of that website so thank you for bringing that to my attention. Take care, Roman111
