Sadness

I lost my dear father in February 23, I have struggled with sadness and guilt ever since.
He was admitted to hospital on Christmas Day 2022, he had been having dementia tests but hadn’t received a diagnosis, that Christmas he became agitated and myself and my daughter arranged an ooh dr appointment, thinking that they’d prescribe antibiotics for uti, but no dr decided that he had to go to hospital, that’s when things started to decline, my dear sweet father, refused to eat, hardly drunk anything but was still very much our dad/papa, this continued for 2 months then the decision was made that he needed permanent care, myself and my daughter did our best to stop the process claiming unsafe discharge, due to my father not reacting well to medication, but to no avail, dad was moved to a care home and it was painful to see my proud funny dad in such a place, sadly my dad died of heart failure 6 days after his admission, the guilt still comes in waves, I wish I could just let him know that I tried my best, in my heart I know he’s better off now but we all just want him back to spend time with him and enjoy his company for another day:(

Hello @Buddy43,

I’m so sorry to hear about your dad. You are not alone with these feelings of guilt - it’s something many people experience when they’re grieving. I’m sure someone will be along to share their thoughts.
