The Greyness of Grief

All started well today.
Met with my bereavement, Tessa
we both agreed:
it’s time to discharge myself.

Came back to the house,
sorted the washing,
folded life into small, manageable piles.

Then,
the skies turned dark.
And so did I.

Tears flowed
just in time
for a hot food delivery.

Didn’t like the food,
so I left it.
Strange how grief
makes everything taste off.

I know
it’s something
we have to learn
to live with

but it’s bloody hard.

Hi
I agree it is very hard i lost my lovelly wife on september 5th she was only 48 and the most lovelly thoughtfull person you could meet .
I havnt pisted on here for awhile .
My brain is going 100 mph all the time ,thinking about her and wishing she was here.
I have been put on 4 weeks bereavment now by my doctor
I think i am slightly better ,just slightly no more than that
Keep looking for answers i will never find and asking her questions i will never get answers too.
All we can do is carry on and remembr them.
At least they still live in our hearts and memories , we carry them and their love till the day our time comes.
Its all we can do.

Sorry to hear of your loss Nigel.

We have to carry on for the sake of our families, friends and of course our partners. Right now, the most important person is ourself.

The Most Important Thing

The most important thing, right now, is us
Not the noise, the rush, the endless fuss
Not deadlines looming, or skies turning grey
But how we feel at the end of the day

All of us here, in this moment and space
Deserve a breath, a gentle grace
To pause, reflect, and softly be
To care for you, to care for me

So, eat when you’re hungry, drink when you’re dry
Rest when you’re weary, don’t question why
You’re not a machine, you’re flesh and soul
Deserving of love to remain whole

We chase and we climb, we carry it all
But hearts grow heavy, and spirits can fall
So let yourself slow, let stillness begin
There’s healing found in the quiet within

So, eat when you’re hungry, drink when you’re dry
Rest when you’re weary, don’t question why
You’re not a machine, you’re flesh and soul
Deserving of love to remain whole

Take care, dear heart, with each small thing
The morning light, the songs we sing
For every breath, a chance to see
That being here is all we need to be

So, eat when you’re hungry, drink when you’re dry
Rest when you’re weary, don’t question why
You’re not a machine, you’re flesh and soul
Deserving of love to remain whole

The most important thing, right now, is us
Not the noise, the rush, the endless fuss
Not deadlines looming, or skies turning grey
But how we feel at the end of the day

So, eat when you’re hungry, drink when you’re dry
Rest when you’re weary, don’t question why
You’re not a machine, you’re flesh and soul
Deserving of love to remain whole

Yes, the most important thing, as we strive
Is simply this: to be alive
