Two weeks of widowhood.

Good morning everyone. Best night’s sleep for ages! I fell asleep looking at a few things on my iPad!

I’ve a busy day ahead as I need to mow the grass, finish the weeding and do more work on the shower room floor. I would like to repair my grandson’s pool cue so hopefully I can find the time to do that too. It’s going to be a cloudy but warm day which is perfect for those outdoor jobs. The sun gets very strong here when there’s no clouds - it makes it hard to work outside. I hope you all have a good day.

Good morning Nigel. Glad you got a good night sleep. Mine was restless I woke several times with weird dreams.

Now remember don’t do too much in one go. Apart from needing to go to Tesco the day is mine to do with as I want. It’s Wednesday so may go to the viewing at the auction house. Its only a little local auction. Nothing fancy like the ones on TV.

Take care.

Nigel looks like you have a busy day ahead and so glad you slept well - doesn’t a decent sleep help with our mindsets. We had quite a lot of work done to our house and only had the decorating left to do. I have started in our lounge and with every strip of wallpaper that came off I felt like I was ripping out memories its been tough. I have had the sofa and two big arm chairs taken away with a new suite on order but he had a leather Lazyboy ( yes think Joey and Chandler in Friends) I always threatened I was going to get rid of it and he always refused to let it go, he loved it - now I can’t bear to let it go and it is in pride of place in our dining room - that would make him laugh. I have found choosing colours, carpets, blinds, curtains etc so very very overwhelming and find it so hard to make decisions. I am so afraid I will make an expensive mistake - he was so good at putting colours together and we hadn’t discussed that. Yesterday I put some painted wallpaper over the chimney breast ( 4 in total) and took a photo of him in the lounge to show him, when I put the picture back and went back into the room the masking tape had come of the bottom of one strip so I am taking that as thats the colour - its also the one I preferred.
Hope you get everything done then make some time to sit out in the sun with a nice glass of something cold xx

Morning Debsie, I’m sorry you were restless and that you have those dreams. Apparently I did wake a few times, and dreamt too, but I didn’t have to get up at all!

I won’t do more than timing allows here. I have to fit jobs into the right slots to comply with the noise requirements, so that does help to spread things out a bit.

I’d love to go to an auction, and have one near me. Maybe I’ll have a look at that when I get home. I bid online for my Dad’s painting so that’s not quite the same as being there in person! I wonder if there is a clothes, or even a sewing machine auction near me?

Have a good day Debsie. xxxx

Morning Tissue. I’m hoping it’s going to stay dry - it looks a bit dark out there at the moment! I always let Mary choose the colours when decorating. She’d have got her way anyway! She was invariably right as it happens.

I have two of those electric recliner chairs here - they were Mary’s parents’ chairs which we brought down here after my MIL died. FIL didn’t want to keep them afterwards. VERY heavy to get upstairs and VERY expensive I recall!

I’d certainly take that as a sign of approval. Nothing like that has happened for me - I wish it would sometimes. Maybe if I cleared the mess off the table…? My main things are the garden and the shower room. I really need both of those done and I don’t want it to be last minute either. But I’m being sensible. I’ve promised the kids I’d be careful so will keep that promise. (Bashing my head is normal but I’ve not done that for a couple of years!)

I hope you have a good day Tissue. xxxx

Debsie1 an auction house sounds great, I don’t think we have anything like that around my way. Do you stay really really still in case they think you have placed a bid but really you just had an itchy cheek

Just imagine - Lot 357, a painting by Picasso, sold to the lady in the glasses for £25,000,000!

The auction is really nothing fancy. Today is the viewing and there is nothing expensive in there. They do a lot of catalogue returns and I bought a lazy boy office chair from there which I think is a Costco return. There are enough airfryers each week to sink the titanic. If I want anything - and that is unlikely, I usually leave an online bid so I don’t go over the maximum. They sometimes have special weeks, I think a golfing one is coming up soon. Probably some liquidised stock from someone going bust. Nigel one week there were reams of fabric and all sort of haberdashery, Mary would have loved it. The auction itself only has a handful of people in the room, I have never seen more then a dozen so I think most people do online bidding.

Oh I’m so glad Mary didn’t think of an auction house! :scream: eBay, and QVC and Temu were enough. Bless her. I’ve got 5 or 6 rolls of fabric in the garage that she took from a friend. She didn’t really want them but had already said yes! Daughter # 1 is going to have them for her school drama department. They can use them as backdrops or even make clothing if they really want. I just want rid as they cost us nothing anyway.

Morning everyone it is absolutely freezing here bit of a shock after all those lovely warm days Nigel sounds like you are having a very busy time pace yourself you don’t want to burn out but it’s good to keep mind occupied less time to think. Debsie i have an air fryer i hardly use now that will probably end up for sale on face book. Lizzy have a safe journey xx

It does sound like some bargains could be had ( but only if it was needed) I never jumped on the Air fryer train - I did think it about it now I’m on my own but still can’t see the need. Toast and sandwiches are staples at the minute but I intend to do some batch cooking to freeze for when I am back at work full time. Enjoy having a bimble around if you decide to go.

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone, I fell asleep instantly last night but woke up a lot last night. Too much on my mind and I forgot to charge my watch, phone and iPad. I’m trying to stay off everything to get it charged quickly silly me.
My husband loved going to auctions, his weakness was the watches, he had hundreds of them, bought them at police auctions, hundreds of bikes at them but it was watches all the time for him.
Must leave my phone now to charge.
Have a lovely day everyone. Xxxxx
