Unbelievable how I am feeling!

Hi all, I’m reaching out because I cannot believe how I am feeling over moving house! Sounds crazy even writing this! A little history, I lost my dear Mum four and a half years ago and it’s been one hellava journey. I still grieve, still miss her but I strive to live my life in honour of her love. I live in a lovely house, fantastic views. I hated this house when we first moved in. Cried in fact at all the work we had to do. We didn’t live here for six months whilst my Dad and I gutted it and did the work. Living with my mum again during that time was lovely. When we moved out I cried again cos I missed my Mum! So over the 16yrs we’ve lived here I have come to love my partner’s family home ( the reason we bought it being to keep it in the family, not my choice! ) so I love this house where there’s been so many life experiences, good and sad, losing pets, sister and a brother in laws and and my dear Mum. Financial circumstances mean we can’t stay here, the roof felt is failing, £25k minimum needed for that. Two lintels failed. Soak sways needing updating to cope better. So we’re moving. I chose the new house. But my goodness I feel so bereft. I realise I’m grieving! My Mum wouldn’t have known of this house. I feel so safe here. I want to call everything off. Im constantly looking for agreement, support, validation from my friends over this but I’m not finding any peace. One minute I’m ok, the next I am not ok and that is more often than feeling ok. I feel I am going crazy. I don’t know what to do to calm myself. I am in tears so many times during the day and I go to bed feeling so sad. My Dad is quite poorly nowadays too so I’m wondering if all these emotions are tied up with anticipatory grief too? Too much change happening. Any thoughts?

Hello Hippyshirl, so sorry for your loss, ..sadly sometimes we hafta make some tough choices in life. Like you having to sell your home..that’s not easy, you have precious memories of your loved ones in that home, its understandable. My husband passed away in March, and im not ready and I don’t know if ill ever be ready to throw away or sell any of my husband’s things, they have such sentimental value, i guess its part of grieving..we don’t want to let go.not even of their possessions and much more a home we shared…but if we must. Our memories of our loved ones are still in our hearts and our memories. Take care and may God bless you :folded_hands:

Exactly, too much change. You lost your mom, your dad is sick, you are moving house. Sounds like you have to move, or I would say call it off. Can you get friends, or paid help to move as quickly as possible, so that you’re soon in a more stable situation? If not, pace yourself, take walks and other sanity breaks. Also yes, anticipatory grief. It’s a lot, one thing at a time, get through the move. Good luck!

Thank you. I know it’s too much change! I do have to move unfortunately but the house I’m moving to is very nice so my sane side tells me!
