Hi my name is Darren, i am 52 yrs old and have lost 10 people, family and best friends since 2021 when i lost my mum. I was an addict for 30 yrs and i became clean on the day my mother died on 03/11/21. It was my worst but yet my best day of my life, not being disrespectful to my mum in any way. I used my grief to over come my pain that led to my addiction in the first place. I was able to take a good very painful look at the wounds that caused me to turn to heroin in the first place. Even as I’ve been losing more and more people in my life I’ve not once thought of using again. I found my best friend dead last month and that has helped me to finally open up and talk a little about it. I would like to start helping others with their grief and want to find out how I would go about that. I think I have finally found my calling going down this path.

Dear Darren
This is a wonderful post. Well done on using your grief to achieve something so difficult.
It’s great you would now like to help others, your experience I’m sure would be invaluable.
I would look at support groups in your area and offer your help, I’m sure they will be very grateful.
I know as a mom I would be extremely proud of what your doing. Look after yourself too x
