I was already on antidepressants when my husband passed and at first i thought they were preventing me from really feeling the pain of his passing as i didnt cry that much. Then i realised that was shock and the crying kicked in a few days later. I must say the the tablets im on venafalaxine are very good, i started taking them to replace citalopran which wasnt having that great an effect on my depression
They do state side effects but i didnt suffer with any. The only downside for me is if i miss a dose I really know about it.
