@Miffy1 @Granzi I can honestly say, having this platform to simply talk openly and express the overwhelming grief and things that we miss so much that our mums gave us, as small as just the 3 or 4 phone calls a day, chatting about work, friends, what shopping we had bought or whatever was on the tele, what she had been upto that day, anything and everything, it’s these things that are impossible to come to terms with. No one can ever fill that unconditional love and care. And everyone of us on here is going through the same loss, the same pain, the same triggers and has full understanding. People in our lives, no matter how close we are to them or the relationship, unless they have lost their mum, they just don’t get it xx sending love and I’m here if you want to talk anything through xx we find the strength somehow for our mums ![]()
@VictoriaB1 @Miffy1 - thank you for your support this evening xxx
There always one of us who is in the same struggle, or also needs to talk and offload, or someone else who can’t sleep, we know what we’re all going through, we can relate and understand. Complete strangers yet supporting us through each and every day. This site has been a lifeline for me. Don’t struggle on your own, we’re all here for each other xx
Lovely words and so true, I’m so thankful I found this group
Hello . I lost my dad while in hospital after a serious operation. Now im out i am finding it hard to cope at times
@Redlady - so sorry to hear about your loss of your Dad. It is so difficult, I find this online community helpful as everyone here has suffered loss and so understands how you are feeling. Have you family or friends to help you?
No i am living alone now. I have some relatives but I still feel lonely without my dad. I have alot to deal with in a practical sense e.g bills ,waiting on probate. On top of this I have been very ill. Any advice on how to cope please?
@Redlady - I am sorry that you have been very ill as well as losing your Dad. Try and take things steady and rest when you can. Losing my mum has made me feel lonely even though I do have family and friends. I experience good days and bad days but have had to go back to work which I find hard. The most important thing I think is to be kind to yourself during this time. Take care
Sorry it took time to reply. I have been so busy. I am still receiving rehab -it is all so hard. I am really missing my dad so much tonight. He loved football and now I’m watching it all alone. Sometimes i am inconsolable. Any advice please?
I’m feeling the same as you.
Lost my Mum to a heart attack 5 weeks ago & finding it do hard to process.
Mum had been unwell since having a stroke over a year ago much she was coping even though she was have memory issues post stroke.
But to leave us so quickly is shocking.
I miss her so so much.
Every morning I find it so hard and wake with my stomach in knots.
Sending lots of love and I’m hear if you ever need to chat or express how your feeling.
Will
Oh thank you. Funnily enough just writing it down here helps a bit ,if that makes sense! The grief seems to hit me so unexpectedly and sometimes on something that seems at first unrelated…like seeing an actor on tv playing a father and realizing i don’t have one anymore! I am so sorry about your mum. I lost mine a while ago and of course this brings it all back.
I have had so much darkness in my life.it would be nice to know that there is some light at the end of that dreadful tunnel.
I find just writing on here helps so much and then to hear other people’s stories going through the same grief and actually understand rather than the usual ‘I’m sorry to hear’ stuff but don’t actually get it. Plus those that give apparent understanding when it first happened but then they fade away like it’s all done with and I should be over it.
I’m still living pain, heartache, guilt if could I of done more, the wish I had done things different, regret if the times I got annoyed, just…. Hating myself… lots more
@Miffy1 - it is so helpful being part of this online community. I am having a range of emotions. I still get very upset when I think and talk about my mum. I am trying to remember my mum before she got so ill as the memories of her last few days in hospital were very hard. It was all so sudden, I wish there had been more time but she was diagnosed with cancer and a few days later she had passed away. I hope you are doing ok.
I hope you’re all getting through the days and weeks as best we can? Sending love to you all xx
It’s exhausting getting through the day and the thought of our mums not being there tomorrow when we wake up is the brutal reality that we face. Sending strength to you all xx
Dear Victoria
Your words are so true.
Sending love your way.
My Mum passed suddenly 6 weeks ago.
This week I seemed to be the most upset I’ve been as I go into another phase of grief & realize that I’m not going to see Mum again & any daily routine is so so hard to get through .
I miss so much not sharing little things with Mum.
Mum was a real pal as well as a loving/caring parent .
It’s so hard for us all isn’t it?
I do find that writing thoughts down & reaching out on this forum helpful.
Feeling that I’m not so alone with my thoughts & hearing from people very much helps.
I’m realizing that everyone has an individual path with grief & it’s so unpredictable.
Today I’ve had small triggers about Mum that has led me to have lots of tears…
I’m sending love & thoughts to you & all who are missing g Mums so very much.
Love
Will
I’m so sorry to hear, my heart goes out to you, such painful times, I’m here for you whenever you need.
Anytime, any day, I’m there xx
I lost my mum nearly three weeks ago and her funeral was on Friday. I think the run up to the funeral kept me very busy but the last two days I just feel overwhelming sadness. I woke up crying this morning, just missing my mum. We used to go to church together on a Sunday and I’d give anything to be taking her to church this morning.
I lost my dad over ten years ago so I’ve been down this road before but this feels bigger. I spoke to my mum everyday and saw her at least once a week. I just want her back so I can tell her how much I loved and appreciated everything she did for us.
Although she was poorly for a few months the end was quick and unexpected so I didn’t get the chance to say all the things I wish I had except for when she was actively dying and I don’t know if she heard .
She really did want to leave us either so I’m not sure if that’s making this even sadder.
Dear Dolly
Thinking of you & the grief journey you’re on.
It hits so bad I dosent it.
I get triggers from all sorts of things as I’m sure you do too.
Had a massive cry this morning looking a picture were Mum looks so happy.
Just hurts so deep at the mo.
But good to write things down on here about how you feel & reach out to people who genuinely feel the same and are going through the same emotions.
I have pals who have and still are supportive but feel that’s dropping off but I still need to get emotions out as it helps deal with the missing of dear Mum.
You can always reach out on hear to me .
Love & thoughts
Will
Thank you Will, that’s a really kind reply. I’m sorry you’ve lost your mum too and I understand I still have a couple of the order of service left on the side and I looked at my mum’s cheeky smile and just feel so sad I’ll never see that smile again.
I have a lot of support so I am lucky but I also feel a bit like, ‘please go away,’ Just feel like I want to be on my own. Today I’ve given myself permission to stay at home and just watch tele. I also found the online journal which I created a journal on and started a page, that felt helpful.
Love and thinking of you too
