Songs...

Hello everyone, I have browsed through this entire thread this afternoon, and there are so many touching lyrics to so many beautiful songs.

My wife sometimes used to say to me that I was the wind beneath her wings, usually when we heard Bette Midler singing it on the radio. My wife had arranged her funeral details some years ago and, at her request, it was that song which played as we entered the Chapel for the funeral service. I can honestly say that Nicki was the wind beneath my wings too. Here’s the video/lyrics (hopefully).

Kate,
That is a beautiful melody and the words are oh so meaningful too.

The phrase ā€œWherever you go, whatever you do, I will be right here waiting for youā€ just touches the heart so deeply.

I know this is slightly off-topic, but my wife gave me a little teddy bear years ago, when I used to work away from home each week. The teddy wore a little t-shirt on which was printed the following:

"Wherever you are, whatever you do
you know I will always be there for you
So if you’re alone there’s no need to fear
just give me a call and you know I’ll be here"

The mobile 'phone was my lifeline home and those words still break my heart and make me tear up too. :broken_heart:

Hi Rachel, was doing the same thing, wondering where you had gone and hoping you’re ok and haven’t needed that rolling pin!! :heart:xxxx

This Rod Stewart track has been playing regularly on Smooth Radio for many weeks, since before my wife passed. We’d often hear it on the dining room radio during or after an evening meal, and the smooth strings, chord changes and beautiful guitar work always made me pause to listen closely. There are many versions of it, but I think this is the best, and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do.

Love Rod Stewart and his version is definitely the best. Malcolm took me to see him in Manchester in November, can’t believe that’s nearly a year ago :honeybee:
