I know Alston, Malc and I sat in the car and cried together when this came on. I’d just had a hospital appointment where they thought I had ovarian cancer and it was the first time we’d ever really contemplated being parted. Eight years ago and who knew it would end this way. :broken_heart::broken_heart::broken_heart:

One of my favourites…it meant a lot to my wife when we lost her favourite dog back in 2008, but the words can apply to any loss, I think.

I wouldn`t have made it through the first 3 weeks of my loss without 2 friends who were absolute godsends…and this was just playing on the radio.

This one was popular on the radio, when our black Lab was put to sleep on Christmas Day 2016.
The words:

"It’s been a long day without you my friend
And I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again"

touched me to my core then, and still do now.

Oh Alston56,not a good time to be looking at these, first tears of the day. Beautiful words, especially Crystal Gayle.

One of my dad’s favourites. Played at his funeral. Can’t believe it was 5 years ago💙

This song came to mind after reading Geoff’s post…

I am so grateful that I allowed music back into my life, tho painful it was and can still be…driving in the car…words that just hit you
But this song has words that I relate to this forum, I won’t tell you them now, but the clue is the situation I have had to face over the last few weeks, should I stay or should I go.

No, don’t even think about checking out!
This track is a classic. I have a large music collection which I loved listening to on a regular basis but can’t do it since my wife died. Strangely enough I have enjoyed listening to many of the tracks on this forum. I used to have music in the car but now it’s only Radio 4 (just to hear somebody speaking). I’m no longer a fun person

I agree with Al, love the track but understand those sentiments, think we’ve all been there one way or another. Music , like that lager, reaches those parts and has the capacity to make us sadder than anything else can. I get you, Al, radio 4 is the way forward , I have it on all night as well , as you say just to hear a voice. Though that’s not without its tear jerking moments, Jenni Murray’s last woman’s Hour did it for me! We can’t be fun people when there’s no colour left in our world. Sorry I’ve gone a bit off piste! Take care x

I have to say that music is still my life. I struggled to listen to anything the first few weeks but now I don’t change the radio station or skip forward on Spotify anymore. Memories are so precious and if I shed tears then that’s ok :blue_heart:
