50 something/early 60s and lost your partner- how do we cope?

It’s really tough when you go back.
I went back too soon.
Make sure you take a good break before even considering returning. You have a lot to make sense of…

I cried non stop for the first few months. I would put my hand to my face and it was wet and I didn’t even know. I had to have eye drops in the end to help.

My boss told everyone before I went back but I did have the horrible experience of meeting someone in the loos who asked how my husband was. ( he was in hospital for 5 months before he died).

3 weeks is very very soon.

Hi Zani - welcome to the club nobody wants to join :people_hugging:

Hi Zani, my husband was a car guy..watching car auctions, going to car shows, he belonged to this club for guys that owned a Toyota Tundra, they’d talk about what they’d done to their trucks…

Hi brummy,

Yes finding are way on this crap path is hard. Sometimes you have family and friends to help you. Sometimes you are lucky enough to find new friends, who understand. Sometimes you get the right advice on the forum. Just please make sure you are looking after yourself.

Take care.

I do a lot of car chat, repairs, updates, styling, a lot of small chatter, it can be fun. Saves a lot of money too. I buy all of my cars at auction, i had 3 until recently, now 2, might buy a van.

I have thought about a campervan - it was something we had planned for our future so now its just me it would need to be a small one - a vw transit sized one so i can manage it :woman_facepalming::people_hugging:

Campervans are quite popular, we used to have a caravan, but sold it before we emigrated to Australia, although we came back.

Vans can be converted to a living space, but its a lot of effort, or campervans bought for a pricey penny.

Would love to do a conversion but not sure i have the skill set ( to be fair im pretty sure i dont ) :joy:

I mostly prefer to do regular mechanic repairs. Body work is a completely different skill set and so too conversions, so i’d not be any good at them, it would just take too long, but might be fun as a hobby.

Shall I order my tool belt then  :joy::joy: think I will leave that to people that know what they are doing and start saving :joy:

The tools will be worth a lot of money, i’ve spent thousands on mine.

My wife used to sew and make clothes, she has tonnes of fabric and patterns, worth hundreds, no idea how to sell it.

I know!
We get that pain. Unbearable. Never ending. So deep you can’t describe it effectively with words.
When you meet another widow you look into each other’s eyes and just know.

We wish time travel happens. We wish the world stops still. We wish magic was real.
Brain cannot comprehend reality anymore.

I’m so sorry xxx

I can find that out for you in the next few days.
I have friends who sew a lot.
I only dabble a little in quilting and embroidery, but they know stuff.

Also our friend Nigel has dealt with his wife’s sewing items. I’ll ask him to post on here if he knows anything .
