A bit of comfort hope this helps

Hi Its been 3 & a 1/2 months since I lost my mum, we’ve had the long arduous drawn out process of waiting 5 weeks for her funeral, we’ve had the laughter of writing eulogies entitled Memories of Margaret / mum, we’ve had the highs and lows of seeing family from far and wide - my brother and sister in law from the states and my mums sister visited from Australia for 6 weeks.
I’ve had the support from Thorpe Hall fund raising team and I’ve had folk to talk to when helping out with various volunteering roles this year. Just as i’d started to get into the Christmas mood, a time I dreaded for so long - I ended up with the flu as so many did this year…

Here’s a little poem my Dad found whilst sorting through mums things it really summed my mum up - the sort of person she was and how she’d want us to continue living… I hope it make a few more folk smile as it did for our family.

You can shed tears that she is gone
or you 'can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes
and pray that she’ll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left

Your heart can be empty
because you can’t see her
or you can be full of the love you shared

You can’t turn your back on tomorrow
and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow
because of yesterday

You can remember her
and only that she’s gone
or you can cherish her memory
and let it live on

You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back
or you can do what she’d want:
smile, open your eyes, love, and go on.

Best wishes to everyone take care.

What a lovely poem. And so true. Sounds like your mum was a fantastic lady.
