A Monster Calls

I just caught the last half hour or so of this beautiful film that says more about the monster that is grief than many a therapist could probably muster over many hours of therapy.

It is how a child learns to cope with losing his mother to cancer but it easily cuts across all kinds of grief, regardless of the person involved or the reason why they died.

The book it is based on was started by Siobhan Dowd who succumbed to cancer before she could complete it and the story was then picked up and completed by Patrick Ness.

I think I will read the book. The film got me very emotional but it made sense and was oddly uplifting.

Good night all.
