Anxiety and grief

Hi all,
My mum passed away over a year ago quite suddenly which was very traumatic. I’ve had counselling for both bereavement and PTSD however i am struggling with anxiety at the moment. Maybe it’s quite normal but I wake up most nights with my heart pounding feeling heavy and awful. It’s more in the night than in the day. I feel exhausted and sick each morning. This has only happened recently. Any one experience this?
Thanks

Hello @Liveforthemoment,

I’m so sorry about your mum. I can see that you’re new to the community. I really hope you find it to be a support to you. Sadly, many of our members have experienced the death of their mum and will understand some of what you’re going through.

I just wanted to share our support page on the physical symptoms of grief with you - perhaps it may comfort you a little bit to know that these feelings of panic are normal, and you are not alone.

Mind have some advice on coping with anxiety and panic, which might be helpful right now.

If you’re finding that these night time anxieties are making it hard for you to function, it might be worth making an appointment with your GP to see if they can give you a bit of extra support right now, too.

Keep reaching out and take care,
Seaneen
