Hi @Rosie59
I’m so sorry to read about your loss and the anxiety it is causing you. I’m 19 months on from losing my wife and anxiety still has a big impact on my life.
I don’t like tradesmen in the house ( or in the garden for that matter!) either. It’s illogical really because all the tradesmen I’ve had to call have been perfectly nice and done a good job. I think it’s the anticipation of their arrival that puts me on edge. I’m much better if an issue is sprung on me and the fix is instant so I don’t have time to think about it.
On the whole their visit is usually a good thing because it means I’ve had some company for an hour or so which brightens my day.
I suffered anxiety on & off since I had my kids. Got through the worst of it with the help of my husband who knew how to calm me and make me feel safe. He’s been gone 4 months and Iv suffered terribly with it since. Muddling through the days, some good and some not so good. Can only keep going an hope it gets easier.
I think anxiety is a strong companion to grief, as well as other emotions like anger, resentment, sadness and guilt. Grief seems to conjure up every emotion possible.
It’s amazing to read all these replies and to know I am not alone in feeling anxious. I agree it really does seem to be one of the many emotions that run along with grief. Counselling would probably be helpful as I know that we need to express our emotions. Of course it depends on getting a good counsellor. Diane
