Today I got a text from O2 saying that my overdue bill had resulted in my service being suspended. I have direct debits set up to pay all my bills. I phoned 02 and it turns out that when my bank changed our joint account to my sole name the direct debit was cancelled. Has this happened to anyone else?
I suppose I had better check with the bank that they have not cancelled anything else.
I’ve not had this happen however, mobile phone companies are (or certainly were, in the past) notorious for affecting credit ratings… it might be worth just checking with your bank if you have to talk to them anyway…

I can only think the direct debit was in his name. If you use online banking you should be able to check. I seem to remember there were a couple I had to reset up. All our charitable donations were in his name.
Hi Willow112 look at this as a reason to get a better deal for your mobile. I can recommend Lebara they are very reliable, keep you informed ,customer service is very good and they are very cheap.

Willow112, I’ve not had that issue. My husband died a year ago on 19th September and last week I got a letter from the taxman telling me he owed tax for the 23/24 year! I’d advised them of his death and they settled his account then I thought. They want me to pay about £200 underpaid taxes plus they say they’ll be looking to his 24/25 payment!!! How does a dead man owe taxes for a year he’s not been here? It’s a stress I really don’t need on the anniversary of losing him.
I really don’t know. Just when you think something is sorted out you gat another letter.
I tried to login to my council tax account today and it has been ‘revoked’. Phoned up, apparently usual reason is non-payment but they admitted they could see it had been paid through direct debit and is up to date.
I had to unsubscribe, register again using a new password, and hey presto. It worked.
Three banks to fettle tomorrow.

Banks/building societies cause load of stress if not on the ball or empathetic. Just to get what is owed sometimes all these hoops.
