I’m going to close this conversation now, as San has had her original question answered, and I don’t think we’re going to get anywhere useful by debating it any further.
The block option was a feature that came as standard with the new site platform we moved to last year - it wasn’t a feature that we had a requirement for when choosing a platform, as there hasn’t really been any call for it in the past (this is also why it isn’t covered in the help section yet). However, it is there, and it’s a perfectly valid option for people to use it if they find it helpful.
I understand that the thought of people blocking each other can be upsetting when we generally think of this as such a supportive site. But if people do find it helpful on rare occasions, it’s certainly preferable to getting into arguments.
