books on grief

hi i lost my dad in november and still having really bad days occasionally where i have a lot of questions regarding death and maybe the afterlife! ive seen a lot of people say that reading books about grief do help and i just wondered if anyone could reccomend any to get started?

I’ve just finished reading ā€œGrief Worksā€ by Julia Samuel. That was a pretty good book.
Easy thing to do is go to your local library and get a range of books on grief. Have a read and I’m sure there will be one that helps. I’ve read quite a few now.

It’s ok not to be ok by Megan Devine is worth a read

Hi @lot8

I’m sorry for your loss…I lost my husband 2 years ago this November. I have found ā€˜What’s Your Grief?’ by Eleanor Haley and Litsa Williams a good book…there’s a website too.

Sending hugs x

Hi sorry for your loss. I read this book called Things I Wish I Knew Before My Mom Died. It didn’t really help me it just confirmed what I already know about losing my mum.
I don’t need a book to tell me how grief affects me. All a book does is serve to educate if you haven’t experienced loss of a parent. Whilst I have never lost my dad yet I have lost my mum but I know one day I’m going to lose my dad. I lived my whole life imagining I would never lose my mum but to lose her makes me realise I won’t live thinking my dad is going to leave me. I’ll be on my own and believe me when you lose your mum the world becomes a very lonely scary place. I don’t need a book to tell me that
Since I lost my mum (notice how I don’t use the word died it revulses me) I have developed a belief about the afterlife not god or some heaven but a belief that gives me comfort I’ll see my mum again (roll on I say). This is what grief does to me personally it makes me want my life to come to an end!!! Yes that is sad but you have got a so called omnipotent god for taking my mum away.
