How do i carry on at work when my mother has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Knowing i have a short time with my mother and wanting to spend every precious minute with her, but i still have to go to work, dont i…only found out yesterday so i am still on shock and sorry if im not making any sense.

Hi Ljacko

I’m so sorry to hear about your mother. There are charities that can offer you support, such as Marie Curie who have information and support for people with a terminal illness and their families : 0800 090 2309, and Macmillan Cancer Support, 0808 808 0000

The community is here for you when you need us.

I wanted to share a few Sue Ryder resources with you that might be helpful.

Take good care, Rhi

So sorry to hear this. This is exactly where society is all wrong. If you become a carer and work you get little support and if you stop working you don’t get enough money to live off. I had to give up work to look after my husband and 2 young kids. Thankfully his work are still paying him full pay but that’s bound to stop soon. Have you spoken to your employers?
