During the past traumatic year I’ve been very fortunate in being able to go out a lot. But, just lately, I have become quite tired when walking. The thought of having to stay in……(even tho I have lots of interests like painting, piano playing)……fills me with dread. Also, I don’t see old friends like I used to. How do others cope with this huge change? Thank you all for being there, for listening.

Dear Bonnie I am sorry to hear that you are feeling tired from walking. Do you think there might be some underlying reason? Are you eating properly etc? I ask because you have often talked about going to the gym so I imagine you are normally quite active. I hope you’re are coping with everything else, having the anniversary coming up on Monday must be weighing on you. Today it’s nine months for me since my wife died and it still seems impossible. I hope you have a peaceful weekend and I will be thinking of you and sending hugs

Thank you so much Tom. I think I might have just hit on a solution. Before I went out today I made a point of not doing anything strenuous beforehand. I didn’t even make the bed! I then went out for three hours, did a lot of walking, and did not once feel tired.

That’s great Bonnie I hope you stay strong. I try and do a lot of walking to keep my mind off. I find that as I don’t sleep well I often walk around exhausted but it’s difficult to solve the sleep problem.

Grief can make you tired, it certainly does me. I get more tired when I’m at home alone and not doing anything. It seems like keeping my mind active and doing things eases it a bit.
