Hi, Of course it’s ok to feel down at nine months. I’m ten months in after losing my partner of 40 years, and I still struggle. I’m probably worse than I was earlier on. There’s no timeline for grief, sometimes it subsides a little then comes back when you least expect it. I’m resigned to the fact that it will always be with me in some form.

Sometimes other people try to impose their timescale on your grieving. Remember that unless they’ve walked in your shoes they haven’t a clue. Sometimes they might need reminding of that. Take things at your own pace, Take care.

Hi Sandy paws. I am only heading into 6 months of losing my partner Theresa. I felt the same way after 4 months. I think it is when we have had to deal with what has happened and dealing with the outcome of it all, I arranged everything regarding my partner Theresa,s funeral and everything else that followed. When the reality kicks in it is hard. I have a lot of friends who have lost their wives/partners longer than me and they still cry ,some Have told me that They have not got over it , but they are learning to cope with it. There it s no rhyme or reason why we feel ok one day then down the next, Well I suppose their is and it’s called LOVE. Take all the time you need to cope with your loss and it is ok to feel the way you do. Sometimes it is hard eto relay messages but Hopefully you will start to feel better about having your first grandchild " I’ know you will also wish your partner was with you when it happens." Life can be so cruel. Take care .

Yes, I think you are right. It always seems to surface and when we least expect it. This year, I have made a few small strides, but since June/July, I have gone backwards again. I try to analyze why because I analyze everything, but I still don’t know why. I think now that a deep and great loss is just plain difficult and I have to find a way to cope better around it.
