CREATING A SHRINE FOR MY MAM

Hi everyone,
Well we have all made it through today, just one more day of heat to get through.
Might have to wear a cardigan on Wednesday is only going to be 25c in Northants.
Hope all the pets are coping, cats tend to be a good judge of heat and make sensible decisions where to sit, but dogs on the other hand have no sense.
Keep safe everyone tomorrow.

Hi Debbie

Goodness my Husband would have loved a chin-wag with you about the Bible. Youā€™d have been there for hours. He didnā€™t want or need much, he said because of his faith he was already ā€œrichā€. Often heā€™d say if you lived a good life youā€™d live a long life. But that didnā€™t happen for him. It makes me sad for his ā€œlossā€ of the life he loved. But thatā€™s just it isnā€™t it, we canā€™t override whatā€™s chosen for us.

Keep well in the heat. Hopefully last 24hours. Zoe doesnā€™t like the hose so Iā€™ve had to resort to a washed out spray bottle!

But yes, itā€™s very very hot right now isnā€™t it

Whatever it is itā€™s my fave. Like a new pet. Dreading getting in the car to go therapy but Iā€™ve booked a quick swim after to cool down before I come home. x

Hi Debbie,
I love The Secret Garden film but have never read the book. I love all those period dramas which is how I came across it. Think Iā€™ll see if I can get the book. I miss reading. Textiles took over my life and I didnā€™t seem to find the time. Both my mam and dad love reading and I bought many books for them over the years, a lot historical. They always had a book on the go. I loved reading Shakespeare for school and Chaucer. So easy to put down things we enjoy and wonder years later why we stopped. I have one of mams bibles. She had so many. You were chatting to Tina about it. Itā€™s still too upsetting to pick it up. Itā€™s in my bed drawer so sheā€™s near me when Iā€™m sleeping.
I wish I could see my garden with fresh eyes. It is the accumulation of 15 years work, a lot of it recently (during covid and then mam). Wonder how Iā€™ll get the 6 by 6 fences up on my own if my niece canā€™t help. She stopped texting me again because of stuff happening with my sister. But Iā€™ve booked a swim for after therapy today as just 5 mins away. I was saying to Suzanne Iā€™m dreading getting in the car. The air con stopped and I donā€™t know where to get it done. But my therapist is only 20 mins away. You did make me laugh with getting your cardy on.
I had a very stressful cleanup yesterday when I realised the damp crystal bags which fill up with water had leaked under the metal cabinets I keep my work on. They collect moisture from the air, not just for damp (donā€™t have damp). So that was a major task in the heat. Will check later to see if my work has suffered. Months of intensive hand sewing per piece. Iā€™ve given up on making new work.
You are right in that I should just concentrate on me and not be affected by my dad and sister. The moving situation has come up again and if it is out of the area I will be completely alone. Still donā€™t know why she stopped speaking to me. My niece wonā€™t tell me. I feel like such a mug after paying for xmas for them to be dropped afterwards. Why do I always get treated unfairly? I wonā€™t see any of my family again. They wonā€™t even know when I die. I donā€™t want to be the person where the house is cleared by the council because there is no family or friends or anyone who loved that person. I feel so completely alone and it frightens me.
Porscha stayed out all night so I havenā€™t slept well. Kept going out to shout of her. So sheā€™s not allowed out and is screaming her way around the house. So annoying. She keeps going in the creeps garden. I only hope she isnā€™t being encouraged into the house. The woman on the other side has dogs so she wouldnā€™t go that far. Worried that this is another way to get to me.
I wish I had your faith. It would give me some reassurance I think. My sister wouldnā€™t go to church with me after mam but did go herself, knowing I canā€™t go alone. Just that initial visit could have given me the opportunity to keep going.
Porscha is screaming again. Will have to just let her go and if she doesnā€™t come back it will be like she has died too. Hope mam will be waiting for her.

Hi Christine,

That is very sad that your niece has stopped texting you but it may be something simple that is stopping her so donā€™t think the worse xx

Know my sister doesnā€™t like her spending time with me because she is constantly checking up on what we are doing, where we are, how long she will be etc. Only realised because the phone would be pinging the whole time and then it clicked what was going on. Sick of being used. Still paying for her swimming membership so we could go together. Still going today and asked her if she wants to join but no reply. Dreading getting in the bat mobile! Air con stopped last summer I think and just didnā€™t get it sorted. Wish I had. Donā€™t know how you all manage in this heat being at work. It makes me feel ill and so bad tempered!

There is a new situation with my sister and the kids dad. My niece will not accept that we are all responsible for our actions. Guess sheā€™s taken that as being that I am not on my sisters side. Itā€™s so juvenile. But she (sister) can now get what she originally wanted and wasnā€™t able to before (speaking in code). I donā€™t know why people go through life making things so complicated for themselves. If you know what buttons to press and then sit back and watch the drama unfold you should be held accountable on some level. Really annoys me that nobody can see it and she plays the victim card every time.

Hi Christine

Porsche may be wanting to stop out if sheā€™s on heat. Sorry about the choice of words in this weather but you know what I mean. Sheā€™s probably caught the eye of an amorous tomcat.

Hope your afternoon goes well. Donā€™t go trying to put your fence panels up on your own! Even the flimsy ones take some manoeuvring to slot in as you know. If your niece canā€™t help do you have a local volunteer organisation? If they are in an accessible place maybe the delivery guy may slot one or two in. I know they arenā€™t supposed to but a guy did for me from Wickes. Well, they were a courier they use not Wickes themselves. Just put a ā€œhelplessā€ face on, they may be in a helpful mood!

Sorry thereā€™s problems again with your family. Must be like being on the waltzer at the fairground never knowing what turn or spin will come next

Hope all is well for later on when you get back from therapy and swimming.

Hi Neil

Just wondering how youā€™ve been today. Hopefully things will change overnight weatherwise. Itā€™s not as though you can even sit out for a while is it when itā€™s so bad is it.

Wouldnā€™t like to be on public transport on days like these in the bigger cities.

Well Iā€™m going to see what the local News reports are saying and make a drink of hot black tea, unusual choice I know!

Hi Tina
Not been too bad today considering itā€™s a Tuesday . Keeping out of the heat- actually got a breeze coming in now . Thunder storms forecast tomorrow so no doubt there will be panic stations about that too!
Itā€™s just a case of sitting it out for all of us isnā€™t it ?
Sending love and best wishes

Hi everyone,
Itā€™s been so hot at work today, my office has been hovering about 32c mark even with the blinds shut and two fans on. Even the head teacher popped in to ask if I was okay, probably worried I might go home. No she was genuinely concerned.
When I finished work walking home felt just like a blast of heat when you open the oven door, it so windy outside, no sign on any dark clouds or rain.
Now just laying in a darkened room at home, I feel so drained of energy.
Hope everyone else is coping with the heat, Suzanne I feel for you in the shop today with no air con and grumpy customers.
Neil I glad you are having an okay Tuesday,
Christine keep positive and as Tina said get someone to help with the fence panels.
Speak to you all later, time for another drink, and no not alcohol, Beki, Nic and Lucy.:tropical_drink:

Hi Tina,
OMG THE HEAT ! My car was like an oven on wheels. Relived to get to my therapy. I have been very upset again with family things. Just canā€™t not react to it. The fear of being alone with a family in the world is horrible. Finally heard back from my niece saying she wasnā€™t going n this heat because I couldnā€™t pick her up (again). I forgot my towel and had to get dried on my canvas bag! The water was lovely and cool.
Getting my delivery tomorrow and would love to just slot them in but have to hammer in the metal spike, fix the post into it, paint the fence and then hold it in place while I drill and screw it in place. Itā€™s going to be extra awkward because itā€™s at the hedge and has tree branches above (which I want to keep). Iā€™m sure my niece will help and I only have 3 to do so will get them painted and then do it in bits when its cooler. Rained here and was lovely and breezy. But Iā€™m drenched again now after my bath because I canā€™t have the windows open with being in a bungalow. So pleased its going to cool down. Poor Zoe in this heat with her fur. Porsch has been doing well. Donā€™t know where she goes but it is in the creeps garden. She is neutered so wonā€™t be interested in the tom. Garden pongs! I also have the stench of rats where I discovered theyā€™d gnawed through the decking boards. Canā€™t imagine how my neighbour lived in that for such a long time. Theyā€™re really getting on with the work so he should be back soon. Hope the council will monitor him over time to keep his hoarding in check. I believe everyone should do what they want until it impacts on others. And obviously his health.
Pleased I got back on here again. I do feel a bit better than I was but I miss mam like when it first happened. The garden was a distraction and I just had to cope with getting through the evenings but its all the time again. I just canā€™t make sense of it, that sheā€™s gone forever. Thatā€™s it. I desperately want to talk to her and feel loved again. I feel like I donā€™t matter.
Porscha is doing her screaming again. Will see if she wants more chicken. Will catch up tomorrow.
Lots of love xxx

Hi Debbie,
Donā€™t know what the temp was in my car but I could breathe it was so hot. Had been sitting absorbing the heat for a week because thereā€™s no shade. But I managed to get to therapy and then a swim after. Lovely and cool. Wish I was back there because Iā€™m drenched again after my bath. Glad for a bit of rain and wind.
Getting my fences tomorrow. It rained last time I got them. Annoying because I have to get them painted. Iā€™ll just do it whenever I can. Will be nice to block out being watched while Iā€™m in the garden. If itā€™s not the creep itā€™s his mate with the dogs next to him.
Saw the house fires on the news. Shocking. Canā€™t imagine what it feels like to lose everything.
Going to see if Porsch wants more chicken. Sheā€™s such a gannet and so skinny.
Lots of love xxx
And love to Neil, Suzanne, Nic and Beki xxx

Hi all,
Nic, sorry I couldnā€™t reply before. You could curl up in the old rabbit hutch on an evening with the little mamma cat (canā€™t have her in with Porsch and she growls in protest at having to leave). Just donā€™t get your bits out with the naughty gnome! (canā€™t find a pic but Iā€™m sure I already posted him with no trousers).
Had my fence panels delivered while I was lounging in the bath. He arrived early. So I had to fling on a caftan to open the back gate. I wondered why he was so amused. I have bubbles in my hair. But glad Iā€™ve got them early. Will be painting them over the next few days if we donā€™t get the rain promised (it rained last night). Hoping my niece can help get them up.
Had an unexpected glint of enthusiasm for my textiles. Was forced to clean up the leaked moisture bags under the storage cabinets so all of the rattan stands had to come off and textiles removed and checked for water damage (they were fine). Tidied lots of projects to the loft and have ordered plastic storage units. Started removing fabric coverings from an old chest and taking pics for a new blog, the theme being recycling upholstered furniture. Not sure how long the enthusiasm will last but itā€™s better than nothing. Always feel refreshed with a good clean up and clear out.
Thankful itā€™s fresher today. Are you wearing your cardy Debbie? Iā€™ve been sleeping on the sofa hoping for a draught down the chimney. Lost count at the amount of sheets Iā€™ve washed. Havenā€™t got out into the garden yet as the workmen are at it next door.
Hoping for a swim later after Iā€™ve done a fence. Not the best job in the heat but has to be done.
Lots of love xxx

Hi everyone.

What a boiling hot humid night it was. It seems much cooler now, although in reality itā€™s just normal hot!

Trying to keep Zoe cool is hard work. Doesnā€™t like the fan, doesnā€™t like the water and not that keen on drinking. Sheā€™s shed a lot of fur previously so not a great deal on to overheat from, just looks like a bit of a raggy old duvet at the moment. Not calmed the mischief down though as a couple of days ago I had to fling my new shoes in the washer quickly as she was on a chewing mission. I set the washer off the morning after with them still in by mistake. They were washable so no biggie. The problem is I canā€™t remember whatā€™s happened to them after the washer got emptied. If they got as far as the washing line have they fallen behind a flower bed, did I have to hide them in the house quickly and canā€™t remember where? Iā€™m gonna have to go on a hunt later on for them but Iā€™m obviously three sheets to the wind as I havenā€™t a clue where they are!

You must have a good level of physical stamina to do what you do in your garden as you are always on the go. Itā€™s not just gardening is it, its total reconstruction! Youā€™ll have to post your new fencing project when youā€™ve done it.

Right, Iā€™m going to search behind the flower beds to see if my pumps have fallen down in them. Trouble is the flowers are 3ft tall. If I fall in head first it will no doubt amuse my neighbour whose out in his garden.

Love to Suzanne, Neil, Beki, Nic and Lucy too xx

Hi Christine,
No Iā€™m not wearing my cardy today, itā€™s still so warm but bearable now, last night I was out in the garden at 2am trying to get cool, it was so muggy. Like you Iā€™m in a bungalow too.
I bet you are relieved your textiles didnā€™t get any moisture damage, storing on plastic boxes is a good idea.
Itā€™s always the way with deliveries, never come when your expecting them, now they are here at least you can make a start on the panels and I hope your niece will come and help you put them up.
Enjoy your swim later.

At least its cooler today. Waiting for the thunderstorms !
