CREATING A SHRINE FOR MY MAM

Hi Christine and Neil

Christine
Hope you are doing ok. Had four or 5 days when I’ve felt so anxious and been very tearful. Just dread and fear I think as well as the grief. How are you coping? I know when you are doing well you are up to all sorts but when things aren’t great you really feel it.
Nearly ended up with a medical emergency an hour ago. For some reason my hands have swollen badly. Never done that before, but I have a ring on that finger that hasn’t been taken off for a fair few years, since my Husband passed away but it was swelling around it. As a last resort I put a load of olive oil on my finger and a plastic glove. Was a right idiot to try as it got stock on my knuckle and wouldn’t budge snd I could see the finger going blue. I’m not a full shilling I’m sure!
Hope Porche is Ok too.

Neil
I hope you are doing ok right now. I know the beginning of the week is hard, with me it’s the end of the week but lately they’ve all been as horrible as each other so it’s a case of take your pick.
I’m sure I read you’d been offered a Restart Course. I didn’t know they still did those. I remember being on a week long group one but it must have been 30 years ago now.

I enjoyed seeing your photographs as usual.
I can’t say I’m familiar with some of them myself but as Christine pointed out they have certainly kept you going and focussed. It’s when you’ve nothing to keep your mind focussed when you start falling apart and I don’t think TikTok videos count as cultural enrichment which is what I spend too much time on!

Much love to you both
Stay well in the cold spell xx

Hi Debbie

No he’s not noticed the tree!, I think he’s barely noticed the back garden to be honest. I haven’t planted it yet as don’t know where’s best.

Yes Zoe did draw blood and I know I should have got a Tetanus but thought it would just heal but all my hand has swollen almost overnight and I don’t know if it’s been caused by that or by making the rug. I’ve just almost ended up at the hospital trying to remove a stuck ring from my swollen finger!

Nice story about your Doug carrying your Son.

Keep well xx

Hi Christine

Just thought I’d show you that I’d done a bit more of the rug kit.

It’s very hard going but I’ve done an ear and bit of an eye!

Hi Tina
Restart is supposed to be somewhat different now, will find out tomorrow. At least they listen to me unlike some at the jobcentre.
Out in London today. My friend and neighbour has a biopsy for his prostate as there is something that has been found . He asked if I could be there to meet him afterwards as he wont be allowed home afterwards on his own because of the anaesthetic. He wont be allowed home until early evening so will be having a museum afternoon as the hospital is right near the Natural History Museum. Haven’t been there since I was at school so taking the opportunity to explore round there all these years later.
Like to get the first bit of the week out the way and doing something I enjoy really helps.
Sending love and best wishes

Hi everyone
Got home a little later than expected after coming home with my friend from hospital. All seemingly went well but needs to get the results now in a week.
Visited the museums as I said and began with a last minute choice to go to the Royal College Of Music as they had a new exhibition on. Small but excellent museum ( near the Royal Albert Hall). Hope to attend a performance in the near future.
Went to the Natural History Museum for the first time since I was at school. Absolutely loved it. Changed a bit since I was there last! The dinosuar and mammals galleries were my favourites along with the volcano/earthquake gallery too. Such a huge beautiful museum with fantastic architecture its somewhere must see any time you visit London.
Wishing you a peaceful Wednesday
Sending love and best wishes to all

Hi Neil,
I love the natural history museum, your right it’s such a beautiful building. I haven’t been for several years the last time was with Doug. We also went to the science museum which I didn’t find as interesting, I wished we had done the V&A instead. Doug knew London very well, so I used to love going on trips with him. I’m not brave enough to go on my own, I would get lost. The last time I went to London with him we visited Hyde Park, he always could point out the places of interest, I know his knowledge came from being a coach driver. He could also spin a good yarn, and you were never quite sure if it was true. I miss those days.
I hope you friend had positive news when his results come through from the hospital.
Sending love
Debbie xx

Hi Neil,

I really love the photo of the harp…seems so peaceful for some reason x
I really liked the Natural History Museum when I visited there last year and could have sent a lot longer there than I did as so much to see.

Glad everything went well with your friend at hospital and hoping the results won’t be anything nasty :crossed_fingers: x very nice of you to go with him and I’m sure he would have appreciated it greatly x

How did your re-start course go? Or has it not started yet? x

Anything planned for this weekend? I’m only taking my niece for a driving lesson on Friday and then have a day off on Sat as not up the Loch so will wait and see what the weather is like before I make any plans.

Hope you are doing ok, much love :two_hearts: x

Hi Suzanne
My friend felt quite sick when he was discharged but feels OK now- probably the antibiotics. Real difference going private rather than the NHS. He paid in for it when he worked all those years as a teacher so good luck to him.
Royal College Of Music was a last minute thing and they have a lovely small museum , completely opposite in size to the Natural History Museum. Loved the dinosaurs and mammals. As someone who works with animals I knew that would be right up your street
Planning what my next bucket list place will be , maybe one of the cinemas in London as I need to catch up on my films.
Restart appt went surprisingly well. Far more productive than Universal Credit and my advisor wasnt very complimentary about UC either !
Quiet weekend but I have the show Jersey Boys to look forward to next Thursday which only cost me £20 in the London theatre sale
Loving the pics by the way. No sign of any snow here and supposed to be warmer at the weekend
Sending love and best wishes

Hi Christine and Neil

Neil
Glad the medical visit went ok. I imagine it was nice having a catch-up with your mates. Circumstances could have been better but it’s always nice to have some company. Jersey Boys sounds great. I’ve been to those kind of shows and really enjoyed them. Good to hear the Restart went ok and hope it brings positive things.
Still very cold at the moment. Feel like hibernating till May!

Much love xx

Hi Christine

Hope you and Porcha are keeping safe and warm and all is well with you as much as can be given what is going on in life with you. All of that on top of your Mam. Even if you don’t feel up to posting yet we are always here.

Woke up to Zoe puking up this morning, which you’ll know always spells trouble when you here that familiar noise. Was either a slug or fur and considering she’s shedding badly just hoping it’s a furball.

Got halfway through on this Rug Kit. Not sure if it’s the repetitive action to my fingers that’s caused them to swell badly or cold or what but they are awful and will probably have to get him to cut off my wedding ring.

Anyway. I’ll get on with de-furring the carpets before Zoe hunts out more fur to swallow. I’ve got another guy coming at lunchtime to quote for gutters. It’s hard work as nobody seems to want to take on work these days and those that are willing always seem a bit shady.

Keep well, much love to you both.xx

Hi Tina
Things not going too bad this week. As I said my friends hospital biopsy has seemingly gone well and I managed to get to the museums which I enjoyed greatly.
Cant wait for Jersey Boys on Thursday evening and will be doubling up with the cinema in the afternoon.
Restart went better than I imagined and has given me a positive mindset.
And yes it is bloody cold. Hoping it warms up at the weekend!

Hi everyone,

I have some exciting news I wanted to share with you all. My granddaughter’s dance school is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The lady that runs it has arranged for the senior dancer’s to dance :ballet_shoes: on the stage of the Shaftesbury Theatre :performing_arts: in September this year. Yes, my granddaughter will be taking part, I’m so excited for her, and of course I’ve asked my daughter to get me a ticket.

One very proud grandma, Doug would have so loved this.

Sending love

Hi Neil,
Glad your friend is feeling better now and best wishes for his test results being all good.
I’m sure you said you saw a premier of Babylon last time you were in London…had I known Brad Pitt was in I would have told you to go and see if he was there :joy::joy: x
You say you’re going to the cinema when you go to Blood Brothers and wondered if you had any idea what you might see. I’m not finding anything much that takes my fancy in the cinema lately but I see the sequel to John wick is due out in a couple of months so will go see that x

It’s been cold up here but no snow so far but the Loch froze over so not many birds lol x
Off on a weeks holiday as of Friday and have no idea what I’ll do but if my niece gets her chance she’ll have me out giving her driving lessons most days lol x not sure my nerves can handle that :joy: x

So pleased to hear that the restart meeting was more positive than anticipated and that they will actually listen to you x is there anything job wise you have your eye on? x

Anyway going to bed just now as I’m falling asleep on the couch. Have a good night and if there’s football on this weekend then I wish your team well :+1: x

Take care and much love :two_hearts: x

Hi Suzanne
My friend seems to be recovering but taking it slowly.
Not fancying Babylon having seen the reviews and its over 3 hours long! On Thursday seeing Jersey Boys in the evening with the ticket I bought in the sale and going to the relatively new Garden Cinema near Holborn/Covent Garden and fitting the film Tar in. Stars Cate Blanchett in a true life story of a famous conductor and her less than conventional private life. Put it on my list for all the 5 star reviews and award nominations as well as the chance to visit this highly rated new cinema. Only a fiver for tickets in the afternoon and lifetime membership for twenty quid!
Restart wasnt too bad although still have to go for UC appt next week.
Big relegation battle for West Ham this afternoon . Really cant say how that one will go.
Hoping Christine will pop in sometime soon to let us know she is OK
Hope you have as good a weekend as possible
Sending love and best wishes
