Hi all,
Oh Neil. To have that happen again is concerning, even if the tests say youāre ok. Are you eating enough (you seem to have lost a lot of weight). I agree you need to carry a doctor around with you when you go to your doās. A handy pocket sized one would be just right. But Iām glad youāve recovered. Wonder if that happens regularly in this heat in those old buildings. Shame you missed your second theatre. Will they give you another ticket? Ask them if they havenāt already offered. I love the book staircase in your pic. Very effective. You must be very excited with just a week to go to see your family from Oz. How long are they staying? Would you like to visit them? I would be terrified of all the creepy crawlies. Often watch stuff on you tube about peeps taking risks swimming in rivers and getting eaten by crocs and the like. Not that youād be doing that!
Thank you to everyone for being concerned about Porsch. Iāve had a hectic time over the weekend trying to collect wee from her (plastic beads in her tray) to test her kidneys. Since her trip to the vet she canāt toilet properly and Iām waiting to see what they say about taking her back in. She was fine before with loads of wees so Iām presuming its stress related but not sure. Tina I now know what you go through trying to get Zoe to wee. Itās a nightmare. I have to put another nighttime tray down but she isnāt pooing either, unless sheās going in the garden and Iāve missed it but I usually know. But sheās having her thyroid tablet with ease as itās hidden in a lump of Primula spread, her fave new treat. Just need to sort out her toileting so I can stop worrying.
Debbie, your garden looks beautiful. My pond is full of stinky mud and I know I should have cleared it before I did the pond plants (which donāt seem to be growing) but I had done it not that long ago. Donāt know where it all comes from. One of the pumps stopped working and a lot of the water escaped down the garden so I have a new one to fit (why do they never come with a plug?). It doesnāt matter how much work I put into the garden it never looks finished. A lot of my plants died (not going to bother with plug plants and especially upset about the sweet peas as I always think of mam).
Iāve been digging out the build up of old bird seed (OMG the stench!) in the bird feeding bench corner and need to wash the gravel stones and mix with cement to fill in the areas between paving slabs so I can just brush the seed away and not have it drop and take root or just fester as it has been. Scattered the usual feed on the lawn which I trimmed (on my hands and knees with scissors as I couldnāt find the strimmer) but the babies are refusing to go there and keep faffing about in the usual spot. So I hope to get the cement done asap so everything can go back to normal. Got my arches done over the lawn for the climbing roses (blooming) and will post pics later if I can.
Suzanne, this week will fly by and youāll be on hols in no time. Anything lovely planned? Will be swimming with my niece again this week but nothing planned yet. Sheās having an awful time at work, being put upon because sheās new and young. Wants to do something else but doesnāt know what. Itās such a shame that she has no drive and ambition because sheās so clever. Probably wonāt go to uni now despite all the encouragement I give about how fun it will be and having independence etc. Waiting for the outdoor pool to be opened so I can pretend Iām on holiday! The thing with living alone is that I canāt put sun lotion on my back and donāt want to burn. You could see if there are any other pools in your area for your week off.
Nick, Iāve found doing stuff very early on and much later when heat has cooled is best for anything physical. Otherwise I just melt. I know itās not fun doing the cars but it will be a massive achievement when they are all finished. Iād help if I could! Love a challenge.
Quite stressed but Iām just waiting for Porsch to settle so she can wee and I can stop worrying. I remember the vet saying she had a fight trying to trim her claws. Maybeās that has had a long lasting effect. Wish mam was here to tell me what to do and reassure me everything will be ok.
Palou, Iāll be posting pics as soon as I sort Porsch out. Do you have a shady relaxing spot to sit in in this heat? Glad itās going to rain later. Might cool the place down a bit. Would love to be by the sea right now. Can imagine it would be fiercely cold in the winter though.
Forgot to mention, I discovered the creep has cut back the section he trimmed where my trellis ended and has created a window the size of a large tv through which to watch me. So I had to block the hole with my oil tablecloths, jamming it in place with bits of 2 by 2. But his mate with the dogs came and pushed it down so I then had to jam a piece of trellis up and tie it to the trees on my side so it couldnāt be removed and then jammed the tablecloths back in place again. Iāve reported the creep to the council because I found a piece of roof tile which had been cut and also it seems he has jammed pebbles beneath a tile to raise it up to allow access for the rat. Also, a section of cement has been pushed through. If it was loose it would simply fall on the outside of the roof and down. So very stressful wondering what else heās been doing while creeping around at 4.30 am. Iām so exhausted having to protect myself from him and his mate.
Good news - vet appointment this afternoon. Explained she must be stressed since her visit on Thursday. Iāve never had to deal with anything like this before on my own. Not looking forward to the drive as my air con needs doing. I seem to have a run of smooth and then lots of things happen together to have to sort out.
Lots of love xxx
