Dealing with step children who do not respect our will

I am trying to grief for the sudden loss of my wife but my step children are making this very difficult because they believe that they should have a claim of a substantial amount of money from my wifes inheritance that she got from her parents. I have explained to them both that we has reciprocal wills and that there was no provision for any children, not until the last parent dies, and then it would be split equally. To make matters worse they still live in the family home. I am planning on asking them both to leave

It sounds like you’re describing a mirror will. That’s what my mum and dad intended on setting up, but we lost dad suddenly and unexpectedly before he’d had chance to do it. Your step children really don’t have a leg to stand on. I think that mirror wills are really common, and, incidentally, the laws of intestacy also support the surviving spouse benefitting.
