Hi Jeanniew, I am sorry to hear that you are suffering. Do you find your job rewarding? Can you not talk to your father. I don’t know how old you are but do you do any exercise? Exercise has been shown to be very beneficial for mental health issues and maybe you could use it instead of self-harming yourself. In a way doing exercise is painful but instead of having negative affects it gives you positive results. When my wife died I took all the pain I was feeling out on myself lifting a weight had and doing pull ups. It really helped me as the pains goes for a while when you are exhausted. I also would go for long walks trying to find beauty in nature every day
I hope you find some solace here and maybe a friend or two
Wishing you all the best
Tom

Hi Jeanniew, did you not find any comfort from you therapy session. Did they not offer any advice on dealing with your feelings?
I’m not sure there are any quick fixes for things like anxiety etc. What I would do would be make progress bit by bit. You say you don’t like going out. I don’t know much about you so let’s say you get anxious going to the shops and buying a list of shopping. What I would do is force myself to go and buy one item, something easy in and out quickly every day. After you have done this for ten days the anxiety will have reduced and you add something on to make it a little harder but achievable. Our anxiety is natural it’s our body trying to protect us but if we do something every day our body realises there is no threat and stops flooding the body with cortisol which causes anxiety.
Exercise also reduces cortisol which is why it is so beneficial.
I hope you find a little solace chatting on this site, Im sure there are many people having problems with anxiety as most of the bereaved suffer from it at some point.
Wishing you all the best
Tom

Dear Jeannew, I’m so sorry to hear of your distressing situation, it must be almost unbearable. Does your GP help you with medication?

I am on some, bit it does not seem to.make any difference, they will not change it.
