Eating habits

I have just stood making my lunch and deciding what to have for dinner,
Opened freezer and was a bit disturbed to find it full of ready meals.
On reflection I haven’t had any of my usual foods I love, fresh seafood and fish,I haven’t cooked any currys, pasta,Chinese for months.
My idea of a roast dinner is a pack of M+S roast beef frozen veg, potatoes,Yorkshire pudding and bisto gravy,I know I’ve put a couple of pounds back on,usual things I kept to a minimum crisps, peanuts chocolate I’ve snacked daily on,I know my fitness has deteriorated through lack of excercise, has anyone else gone through this.

Hi Ron, I have gone from cooking from scratch everyday to ready meals. We never ate ready meals but I can’t face cooking for one. Like you the snacks have increased and I am avoiding the scales. Sending love and peace.

I have changed my daily diet, I have a small bowl of cereal for breakfast, fruit for lunch and I cook at night (I was the main cook anyway) I always cook for two and freeze the 2nd portion. Never a “Sunday dinner” person its usually rice / pasta. You’d think I would maybe even lose a little weight with this but no!

Yes. I lost my dad, but we lived together so cooking is very much associated with him. I used to cook, but I haven’t been able to since I lost him, almost 10 months ago, only eating ready-made meals and snacks. Not very healthy, I suppose, but there it is. :pensive:

Same. I do try to cook at the weekend, something in the slow cooker that will last a couple of days, but it’s often ready meals during the week.

Me too.

Doesn’t matter what I cook it tastes yukky
Even my favourite things.
And I’ve gone completelt off sweet things

I was the biggest chocoholic going. Now I don’t want it. I even turned down Krispy Kreme doughnuts!

But I’m not losing weight

I cook for two. Have done for 45 years, so why stop now. I freeze one portion, and then probably 3 days a week I eat my own ‘ready meals’. Great for days when I’m really tired, otherwise wouldn’t bother to eat a decent meal.

Yes…ended up with sciatica…trying to get back on track a bit…

Hi.
I was always the cook she was the baker, although she did have her speciality’s she cooked.
I think I have gone through the micro/airfryer phase and started cooking again.
I am going to chop and season some more logs today ready for winter,so I will get some exercise there, I used to walk the dogs and people would stop and chat give the dogs a cuddle, but just walking on my own doesn’t appeal much.
Hope you have a good a weekend as possible.
Kind regards Ron.

My husband liked to help with the cooking so it can be a tearful time when I actually cook, very rare these days. Also finding something in the freezer that has a label written by him, is very difficult.

I am trying to cook a bit more often but ……

However, there have been a few times when I have thought of something I would like and get the ingredients only for me not to fancy it when I got home.
Plus food does not seem to taste the same.

There have been some rainy Sundays, when we would have cooked a roast together.
He would have made the Yorkshire puddings. I just don’t see the point anymore.
He died on a Sunday so it is a difficult day for me.

I am like many of you and go for something quick and convenient.
For ages I was just eating sandwiches and something like pasties and sausage rolls that I could just heat up.

I have lost quite a bit of weight which is something I needed to do.

Take care everyone :heart:xx

I think that grief has made us lazy

Housework gets left

Cooking is quick and easy.
But nothing tastes right so whats the point
Mostbof it ends up in the bin anyway

I think grief makes us lazy

Don’t bother with housework

Don’t bother to cook
Most things end up in the bin anyway so why bother

There doesn’t seem much point in anything really.

Sorry, bad day

Love and hugs X x

I am going shopping today. I have a list and a meal plan!! The only reason I want to cook, my adult son lives quite near. He passes my house to get to work. He has 6, 13 hour night shifts in a row, his girlfriend doesn’t cook. Cooking for him, is different, I like to feed him. Last Sunday I cooked a roast. I was in the kitchen for hours. I won’t be doing that on a regular basis. I have mainly lived on soup and popped a can of butter beans with it. My love of bread has disappeared. Nothing is the same anymore

Im clearly the odd one out then. Having gone through a few months when i just couldnt be bothered, im enjoying cooking again. Im making some things that Jim would have turned his nose up at. Yummy!

Im not sure what this concept of housework is though. No one visits now so I dont bother to clean. Id rather be in the garden. :grinning::grinning:

For those who are struggling, I hope your days improve. Sending you hugs.
