I keep looking at it thinking ill give it a go, tho im not very confident setting it all up. Might try at the weekend. I can imagine it would be a good distraction.
I like your “sickie” story Rachael haha
Xx
Yeah that shared excitement of a AAA open world release, especially when you just know it’s a guarantee. It’s going to the moon together. If it’s really, really good , the Sun.
Ill with fall out

We were lucky, self employed, well lucky and in a real danger zone, ‘yeah, let’s make tomorrow a gaming day’ had a real problem of turning into a week. We generally struggled through ![]()
There’ll definitely be instructions somewhere on YouTube, give it a go , if its not for you then you can rule it out, Trial and error has really been good for me, I’ve found different activities that keep me sane, even if its just for a few hours
@LonelyPanda this has piqued my interest but I don’t think I’ve played anything similar. Any experience/opinions of this genre? I used to play D&D back in the day,
@Walan I played the original Baldur’s Gate back in the 90s on PC. If I remember correctly the game mechanics and character classes are very similar to D&D.
I didn’t know no.3 was coming out.
If you like this genre then I’d also recommend Diablo.
Also in a similar vein, Dragon Age if you’ve not come across that.
It was the mechanics I was interested in, it seems like its a mash up of turn based and fps, which if I’m right sounds very interesting and something I’ve never tried. Had a look at those other two and it’s seeming to confirm that. Am I in the ball park?
Looks like Baldur’s 3 is true turn-based like D&D.
The earlier ones were real time with pause combat mechanics.
Diablo is more real time hack’n’slash
Baldur’s and Dragon Age are by BioWare, who also created the epic Mass Effect series.
OOOh just had a look at Mass Effect and it looks right up my street. I was wondering why we’d never tried it but I see it’s release originally was 2007 when my wife was struggling with mental health problems so we were pretty light on the game play and just sticking with what we had. Cheers for that going to down load and have a mess around this week/end!
Baldur 3 sounds good as well, but not out for ps till september, think its out on steam tomorrow.
My hubby and I were gamers and played together for years. We played Grepolis until vascular dementia made it too hard for him so I started to play Elvenar, a gentler game. Playing has helped me through the last 2 and a half years since losing him. What I like about Elvenar is that I play with people from all over the world, all ages and walks of life. We have a lot of conversations about everything, not just the game. It will get better but everyone is different. My daughter came to stay last week and I was laughing about something with her. She looked at me and said that it was the first time she had seen me laugh since I lost Vic. I think I’ve turned that corner.
@nidrigirl Hi to a fellow gamer
I am truly sorry that you have also found yourself without your soulmate.
I have found real comfort in keeping up with gaming. Just knowing that there is a community out there and one in which we can talk about anything and everything, also talk about nothing, have some real banter with like-minded people.
I haven’t played either of the games you mention but Chris enjoyed games of a similar genre, ones like Anno.
It is important that we laugh when we can, not feel guilty by doing so and know that our loved ones would want us to find moments of joy where we can.
Take care xx Rachael
