Hello everyone. I’ve not posted for a while. I lost my Grandad suddenly two years ago. His health rapidly declined, he had vascular dementia and was housebound. He had pneumonia and frailty. I’ve learnt to cope with this loss but suddenly tonight i got upset at random. Maybe its cos i am getting married next month an he will be missed. I really wish he could be there, it breaks my heart that he won’t. I have picked one of his fave flowers, roses to go in my bouquet and am wearing a lace heart shaped necklace that will have his ashes in. I know he will be there in his own way but i miss him so much, it’s a void that will never be filled. I’m getting quite emotional as I write this. I miss my Grandad so much ![]()

My mother passed away from undiagnosed vascular dementia on this day 6 months ago. She had 4 stroke attacks in 4 weeks in December.
I think its only natural to feel this way about the things our loved ones miss. Particularly the big life events like weddings.
Its also natural for the big life events to once again lift the lid on grief. Grief is like a polygraph, it can be stable but then can also go up and down wildly.
I think probably closer to the day you will be consumed in the detail. Its nice you have already done some stuff to pay tribute to your grandad.
Enjoy your big day, you will be living it and experiencing it on his behalf as well when it comes around.
