Grief-loosing a parent

Hey, my name is Samantha and I’m 30 years old.

Last year I recently lost my dad to stage 4 cancer after 5 weeks of diagnosis. My old job wasn’t very supportive when I lost my dad and they weren’t there for me after, I never got any counselling or anything. It’s been hard to progress everything.

It’s been a year now and I’ve finally come across what’s really happened and I have been having small panic attacks about it all.

I need some help and advice on how to deal with prolonged grief.

Thank you

Hello @Samatha,

I’m so sorry to hear about your dad. It can be difficult to come to terms with such a huge loss, but the community is here for you. If you have a look at our Losing a parent category, you join conversations with others who have sadly lost a parent.

You may also find these Sue Ryder resources helpful as you cope with grief.

Another good place to get advice with prolonged grief is How long does grief last? | Bereavement Support | Sue Ryder

It’s tough and you are doing so great. Here to chat when you need

it is never too late to get counseling. it is never too late to attend in-person grief support classes. I went to these grief groups and people attended years after loss. they are designed for people in your emotional state and they helped me.
