Hi everyone nice to meet you, can I ask how do you stay strong around your children when you are broken yourself, and have no one else around to help.as am really struggling
Dear Kirsty I am sorry to hear about your mum. Have you looked into getting counselling, this site offers a counselling session which might help and they may be able to direct you to other sources that can give assistance. I imagine you will have already spoken to your GP they often take time but I imagine they will eventually give you and your son support. Losing loved ones is a terribly painful experience and you will need time process your grief. When my wife’s mother died she was devastated, but with help from a therapist she managed to get through it. Do you have any friends who can help you? I know how difficult it is when you are alone as my wife died eight months ago. I hope you find some solace here where everyone understands the pain of a bereavement
Wishing you all the best Tom

Hi @Kirstyuk,
I’m Harriet, and I’m part of the Online Community team. I’m so sorry to hear that you’re struggling so much, and that you’re trying to stay strong for your children despite feeling broken. It sounds especially difficult when you feel like you don’t have anyone around to support you.
As @Brandon1 kindly mentioned, we have an online grief and bereavement service here which includes counselling: Online Grief and Bereavement Service | Sue Ryder
We also have a page about how to support children and young people when you’re also grieving.
I hope you keep posting and that you find lots of support and understanding here. Take good care ![]()
