How are you doing?

Maybe this will help those like me, who are dealing with losing their spouse/partner.
The other day, someone asked me: “How are you doing?”
I told them I was ok and I’d had better days, but also much worse days. Then it dawned on me, that if I’ve had worse days and I’d got through those days, then having a better day would be easier to deal with.
So my point is: If your pain from the horrendous loss you’ve experienced is bad, just ask yourself if you’ve had worse days. If the answer is “Yes”, then you know you’ll get through.

I am just over 3 months in and find this question difficult. I tend to say similar to you. I have some good days and some bad and this is true. It just sometimes sounds a little bit generic. I like your point and this might help me see it a little different

In the early days, my brother asked me how I’m doing.
“A bit down today” was my answer. He said you had down days before she died (as we all do). So whats the difference?
Not a lot!!
