I wanted to reach out and just say a big hello to everyone on here. We sre all going through tough situations and sometimes all we need is a tiny bit of hope, or even a hello from someone else, or even a virtual hug from time to time!
This year has been a shocker! I lost my big sister in May, I have suffered from shingles and now dealing with subsequent nerve damage in my arm, it was the 10th anniversary of my dad passing in August, and now (as many of you have seen) I lost my gorgeous cat Ginger on the 2nd November! He was nearly 20 but still had the energy of a 5 year old, chasing other cats, vaulting over garden walls, and always followed me to the shop and back, walking by the side the whole way (i miss that so much!)
Goes without saying that this year has been sh*t! But being on here has helped so much! Everyone here is so strong and so amazing!
How are you today?

Hi @JWebber87 . You’ve gone through a lot in a short time. You seem to be coping well, but be kind to yourself and take things on your own terms.
I’ve had a sh*t 3 months. In July, I had a hip replacement, and in early August, a piece of bone broke off my femur. It hurts like hell and the only med appointment I can get is in December!
Then on 11 August, my husband died suddenly from a cardiac arrhythmia. He’d had heart problems for a long time, but doctors said it was manageable.
In October, I was in a car accident; totally wrote off my car, but luckily got away with a lot of bruising.
Last week, my brother in law (my late husband’s identical twin) died of pneumonia.
So it’s been a rather difficult time for our family. I bet you wish you hadn’t asked now!

I am literally lost for words! You have been through so much. I am so sorry for your loss and that of your brother in law. Must have been so tough and I hope you have people around you who have been a strong support group.
How is your leg today? Hope it’s not too bad, and I hope you didn’t suffer too much after the car crash? You poor thing!!

@JWebber87 Thank you for your kind reply. For both of us, each of those things individually would have been hard, but coming all together, they really test your resilience! My leg is still ouchy, but I’m managing OK. We (my stepson was also in the car) got a lot of bruising but otherwise ok. The car ended up missing most of its engine compartment, but luckily the windscreen didn’t shatter - that might have changed things a lot. I have a supportive family (mostly on David’s side, although my sister’s been lovely) so that helps, but of course, they’re going through two bereavements as well.
Shingles is pretty horrible - I hope you’re beginning to be on the road to recovery now. And losing a cat is heartbreaking, I know. They leave a cat-shaped hole in your life.
Sending you a big virtual hug and lots of strength to get through. xx
